Fear The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 1 Recap

Back From the Radioactive Ashes: Fear the Walking Dead, Season 7 Premiere!
Alright, folks, buckle up because Fear the Walking Dead is back and things are…well, still pretty grim. But hey, at least we have some new and interesting ways to be grim, right?
This episode, titled "The Beacon," throws us right into the fallout – literally – of Teddy's nuclear shenanigans. Virginia is a memory. Goodbye to the old way of doing things.
Dwight and Sherry: Happily Irradiated Ever After?
Our favorite reformed (ish) couple, Dwight and Sherry, are hunkered down in a heavily armored CRM truck, doing their best to survive the post-apocalyptic landscape. Think Mad Max meets HGTV, but with more Geiger counters.
Must Read
They’re on a mission, courtesy of Morgan, to find survivors using a network of strategically placed beacons. Bless their hearts. Talk about dedication.
Speaking of dedication, Sherry, bless her heart, is determined to prove she can handle being a mom in this radioactive wasteland. It seems like they’re finally in the same place and time.

The Stalkers: Creepy is as Creepy Does
But wait, there’s a catch! Of course, there's a catch. Enter The Stalkers, a group of…well, stalkers, who seem to have adapted remarkably well to the radioactive climate.
Led by a menacing woman named Mickey, they are tracking Dwight and Sherry, looking for “the pad”. It is like a bad version of Hansel and Gretel.

The Stalkers use radiation suits, but their intentions are far from pure. And their leader likes using radioactive walkers as guard dogs. Because why not?
Beacon of Hope or Beacons of Trouble?
Dwight and Sherry follow the beacon to a tower where they find a kid who has managed to survive by wearing an oxygen mask 24/7. Desperate times call for ingenious measures.
The oxygen masks are not sufficient against the radiation, and Dwight and Sherry were forced to retrieve an oxygen tank. Sherry ends up fighting in a walker pit for the oxygen tank!

Unfortunately, the stalkers get there first and take the tank. Things are not looking good for the kid and Dwight and Sherry are left empty handed.
A Little Bit of Heart (and a Lot of Radiation)
In the end, despite their best efforts, Dwight and Sherry fail to save the kid.

The episode ends with a cliffhanger: Dwight finds a painting by Alicia in the tower, which contains coordinates. Alicia is alive! But where?
So, yeah, Season 7 is off to a bleak but compelling start. We've got radiation, stalkers, and the enduring hope of finding loved ones. Because even in the apocalypse, a little bit of love (and a really good radiation suit) can go a long way.
Tune in next week to see what other creative ways the writers come up with to torment our favorite survivors! And maybe, just maybe, we'll get a glimpse of Alicia and her whereabouts.
