Fear The Walking Dead Season 6 Ep 14

Okay, let's talk Fear The Walking Dead. Specifically, Season 6 Episode 14. "Mother." Prepare for some potentially spicy takes!
June Dorie: Underrated Hero?
Hear me out. Everyone loves John Dorie, right? Sweet, charming, cowboy cop. But did June get enough credit?
This episode puts her front and center. She's stuck with Ginny, the worst house guest ever. Talk about a high-pressure situation!
Must Read
I think she's tougher than she looks. Like, zombie-apocalypse-dealing-with-a-narcissistic-dictator tough. A lot of people discount her.
Maybe it's because she's not flashy like Morgan with his axe. Or as intense as Alicia being, well, Alicia. But June gets it done.
The Virginia Problem
Ginny... oh, Ginny. She's got to be one of the most annoying villains. I find myself yelling at the TV when she is on screen.
She’s complicated. Manipulative. And has a very unhealthy attachment to power. She's a walking, talking plot device of frustration.

But Grace is even more irritating. So many characters go out of their way for her, and she treats them like garbage. I've said my piece.
Okay, that may be a bit harsh. Maybe Grace is just trying to survive. But, personally, I would let Ginny and Grace get eaten by walkers.
Okay, okay. Deep breaths. I will admit that both characters are important to the narrative! But this is just how I feel!
That Bomb Shelter, Though
Seriously, who builds a bomb shelter like that? It feels extremely unlikely.

And Dakota being trapped? Predictable, but still effective. Poor Dakota, honestly she was just a kid.
I mean, she did some terrible things, but Ginny messed her up big time. Bad parenting in the apocalypse has consequences!
Unpopular Opinion Time
Here's where I might lose some of you. Ready?
Fear The Walking Dead Season 6... wasn't that bad. There, I said it. Now, bring on the hate mail!

I know, I know. The earlier seasons were... questionable. But something about Season 6 really hooked me.
The anthology format was actually pretty cool. It allowed for more focused character development. It gave people a chance to shine.
And the acting? Solid all around. Everyone brought their A-game, even when the writing got a little wonky.
Overall Thoughts
Look, I'm not saying "Mother" is a perfect episode. It's got its flaws. But it's still entertaining. And it serves a purpose.

It pushes June to her limits. It sets the stage for the final episodes of the season. And it reminds us that even in the zombie apocalypse, family is complicated.
Also, Ginny getting turned into a walker? Pretty satisfying, I have to admit.
So, was "Mother" a masterpiece? Maybe not. But was it a worthwhile watch? Absolutely. Don't @ me!
Let me hear your thoughts! What did you think about June? About Ginny? And about Fear The Walking Dead Season 6 as a whole?
I welcome (respectful) debate!
