Fairy Tail Hundred Year Quest Chapter 12

Okay, Let's Talk Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest Chapter 12 (Kind Of)
Alright, everyone, let's dive in. We're talking about way back in Chapter 12 of Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest. Remember that one? I barely do, haha.
I'm just going to say it. It was...fine. Just okay. Don't @ me.
Remember the Stuff That Happened?
There was definitely some adventuring, right? Team Natsu probably fought a monster or two. Classic Fairy Tail stuff.
Must Read
Did we see more hints about the Water God Dragon, Mercphobia? My memory is as leaky as a broken faucet.
Also, Touka's hiding something! It was pretty obvious from the start, but still. Very mysterious!
My Hot Take (Prepare Yourselves)
Here's the thing. I think the early chapters of 100 Year Quest were a little...slow. Don't get me wrong, I love Fairy Tail.
But, in my opinion, it took a bit for the story to really get going. It felt like we were re-establishing the status quo.

The stakes weren't quite as high as they would be later on. It felt a bit like filler. (Gasp! Did I just say that?!)
Maybe it's just me. Am I alone on this? I hope not!
Nostalgia is Powerful (But Not Always Enough)
Look, I get it. Seeing Natsu, Lucy, Erza, Gray, and Wendy together again is awesome.
The nostalgia hits hard. Especially after the original series ended.

But even nostalgia can't always make up for a slow-paced story. Just saying.
The Art Was Still Great, Though
One thing I can't fault is the art! Atsuo Ueda is doing an amazing job. The panels are so dynamic.
The characters look fantastic. The magic is visually stunning. Big thumbs up there!
Plus, I really love the little comedic moments. Happy's asides are always gold.

Looking Back, It Was Necessary
Okay, okay, I'll admit it. Maybe I'm being a little harsh.
Thinking about it now, those early chapters were probably necessary. They had to set up the bigger story.
We needed to understand the world they were in and the new challenges they were facing. It's like a slow burn.
The Bottom Line
Chapter 12 of Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest might not be the most exciting chapter ever. But it's part of the journey.

It's a stepping stone on the path to epic battles and dragon-slaying adventures. We needed the set up.
And hey, even a "meh" Fairy Tail chapter is still better than a lot of other manga out there, right? Agree or disagree?
So let's appreciate all of Fairy Tail, even the bits we might not remember that well! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go re-read Chapter 12... just to be sure.
Maybe I missed something. Or maybe I'll just enjoy seeing Erza kick some butt again. Either way, it's a win!
