Fairy Tail 100 Year Quest Anime Episode 1

Okay, folks, let's talk about Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest Episode 1. Did anyone else feel…slightly underwhelmed? Don't get me wrong, I love Natsu and the gang. But did this first episode hit quite the right note?
It starts with the guild, still being their rowdy selves. They get a job request. Not just any job, mind you, but the legendary 100 Year Quest. Sounds exciting, right?
Now, here comes my unpopular opinion. The setup felt a bit…rushed? One minute they're partying, the next they're on a boat to a new continent. Where's the dramatic build-up? It's almost like we missed a crucial connecting scene!
Must Read
The Land of Guiltina
So, they arrive in Guiltina. The setting is gorgeous, I'll give them that. Seriously, the animation team did a great job. But the initial introduction to the locals? A bit lackluster.
They meet Touka. She's supposed to be a guide. Touka seems sweet. But her introduction, while visually appealing, felt…generic. She could have been any guide character from any fantasy anime.

Then comes the reveal. A dark dragon is involved. Surprise, surprise! Are we truly surprised that Natsu is itching for a fight? Me neither.
The First Dragon Appears
And that's where things get interesting, but also a little predictable. Natsu gets to punch stuff. Lucy gets to…well, be Lucy. You know, supportive and providing comedic relief.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the formula. It's comfortable. But the fight felt…short? It's like they showed us a trailer for a really cool fight instead of the actual fight itself.

Maybe I'm just being picky. Perhaps the episode was setting the stage for bigger things. But with the 100 Year Quest title, I expected a bit more oomph from the get-go.
The Spriggan 12 Re-emergence?
The ending hints at the return of familiar faces. Or at least, echoes of the past. Are we dealing with something similar to the Spriggan 12? The tease is strong, and leaves you wanting more.

My hope is that the series will grow into something truly special. The Fairy Tail world has so much potential. Here's hoping the pacing picks up.
But for now, Episode 1 felt like a gentle re-entry. A re-acquaintance with characters we love. A warm bath of nostalgia, if you will. Although, a slightly lukewarm bath.
Final Thoughts (Maybe Unpopular)
So, am I the only one who felt this way? Or did anyone else think it was just…okay? It wasn't bad. But for a sequel series of this magnitude, I expected it to be a total banger!

Let's be real, Fairy Tail has set the bar high for itself. It has epic moments and emotional payoffs. This first episode just didn't quite reach that legendary level for me.
Maybe my expectations were too high. But hey, that's what happens when you're a die-hard fan. Here's to hoping the next episode blows my socks off! And Happy will get more screen time!
Ultimately, I'm still excited for the rest of the series. But let's hope it brings the heat. Just like Natsu's fire. Fairy Tail, don't disappoint me!
