Elden Ring How To Get Back To The Starting Area

Okay, Tarnished! So you've braved the Lands Between, battled some truly bizarre bosses (who names these things?!), and probably died...a lot. Now you're suddenly struck with the urge to revisit where it all began: the Chapel of Anticipation, that sweet, sweet starting area. You’re probably thinking, "Wait, can I even do that?"
The answer, my friend, is a resounding YES! And it's honestly way easier than defeating Malenia, Blade of Miquella (shudders). No need to sell your soul to a creepy outer god for this one.
Step 1: Become a Teleportation Tourist
Forget the scenic route. We're going straight for instant gratification. This involves a certain teleportation device.
Must Read
Head to the Four Belfries
You’ll find this place chilling in the Liurnia of the Lakes region. Think of it as a picturesque, slightly ominous collection of towers. It's like a medieval cell phone tower farm, except instead of connecting you to TikTok, it connects you to potentially dangerous other dimensions.
Look for the messages on the ground near each belfry. Each one tells you where it leads. The one we want has the message about “temptation”.
The Imbued Sword Key
Now, here's where the slight scavenger hunt begins. You need an Imbued Sword Key. This shiny bauble is your one-way ticket back to nostalgia-ville.

But where to find it? Simple! Head to the highest of the Four Belfries. You'll find a chest at the top, practically screaming, "Open me, I have your temporal transportation needs!".
Inside? Ding ding ding! The Imbued Sword Key! Feels good, doesn’t it?
Step 2: Activate and Ascend
Okay, key in hand, let’s get this show on the road! Head to the belfry that says “temptation”. It will be locked.

Interact with the imp statue guarding the belfry, and use your newly acquired Imbued Sword Key to unlock it. Don't worry, it’s a one-time use key.
A portal will now be active at the top of the belfry. Get ready for your short trip.
Step 3: Prepare for a Rematch (Maybe?)
Brace yourself. As you step through the portal, you'll be transported back to the Chapel of Anticipation. Remember that grumpy grafted scion that absolutely obliterated you at the start of the game? He’s back.

This time, hopefully, you're a bit tougher. Maybe you've got some fancy spells, a colossal sword the size of a small car, or at least a slightly better understanding of the dodge button. Show that grafted weirdo who's boss!
Even if you fail, don't worry! You can always try again! Just remember to level up that vigor, Tarnished.
Step 4: Grab Your Souvenir
After defeating (or, ahem, attempting to defeat) the boss, you can explore the starting area again. There is a specific item you are trying to get.

If you look around the chapel, you will find a corpse wearing an Omenkiller Mask. Grab it! This fashionable headgear is both stylish and… well, probably smells a bit like death. But hey, that's fashion in the Lands Between!
Step 5: Escape (Again!)
Once you've grabbed your Omenkiller Mask (or just re-experienced the trauma of your first Elden Ring moments), there’s no way back through the portal.
Just jump off the cliff! Don't worry, you won't die (immediately). You’ll respawn back in Liurnia of the Lakes, ready for your next adventure, and hopefully with a cool new mask to show off to your friends (or at least the other creatures trying to kill you).
So there you have it! A quick and relatively painless trip down memory lane. Now get back out there, Tarnished, and continue your quest to become Elden Lord! And maybe, just maybe, take a bath. You probably smell worse than that Omenkiller Mask by now. Good luck!
