Okay, the reparto (cast) was undeniably attractive. Let's just get that out of the way. Hot people doing bad things? Classic TV formula.

But sometimes, it felt like they were chosen more for their looks than their acting chops. Controversial? Maybe. True? I think so!

And sometimes I got confused. Like, who was related to who? And who was double-crossing who this week? I needed a spreadsheet!

My (Unpopular) Opinions

Here's where I might lose some of you. I think the show, while entertaining, romanticized the whole narco thing. Pretty people committing heinous crimes isn't exactly "aspirational," you know?

"It's just a show!"

Also, all that violence? I get it, it's part of the story. But sometimes it felt gratuitous. Like they were trying too hard to be shocking.

The Verdict?

Look, I'm not saying El Cartel De Los Sapos: El Origen is bad. It's definitely binge-worthy. And the production value was top-notch.

But did it live up to the hype? For me, not entirely. It felt like another addition to a well-trodden genre.

Maybe I’m just jaded. Maybe I've seen too many drug lord dramas. Or maybe, just maybe, my expectations were too high.
