Dragon Quest Adventure Of Dai Episode 73

Okay, let's talk about Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai, episode 73. Specifically, about some things that might be a little... controversial.
A Moment of Silence (For My Opinions)
We all love Dai, right? He's got the heroic heart, the awesome sword, and the whole "chosen one" thing going on. But sometimes... I think he gets a little too much help.
Hear me out! I know he's up against seriously powerful villains. But is it just me, or do the power-ups come a little too conveniently?
Must Read
Like, oh look, another hidden ability! Oh, a brand new spell appeared out of nowhere! It's like the universe is bending over backward to make sure Dai wins. Makes you wonder if he'd have any challenge if he just had to learn things the old fashioned way?
The Power of Friendship (And Plot Armor)
And then there's the whole "power of friendship" thing. Which, don't get me wrong, I love a good found family! But sometimes it feels like the writers use it as a get-out-of-jail-free card.
Is someone struggling? No problem! Just yell a pep talk and suddenly everyone's stronger! It's a little... predictable, isn't it? I sometimes wish they would lose, even if it was for only an episode.

I also have a feeling about Popp. He always gets the comedic sidekick role. But seriously, this guy is a powerful mage! Isn't it time for him to steal the show at least once?
Villainous Virtues (Or Lack Thereof)
Now, about the villains. Hym, I think, is one of the most complex characters. He actually has a moment of crisis about if his actions are just.
I feel like sometimes the writers rush their development. Are they evil just to be evil? Or is there a deeper reason? I wish we got more of that nuance from every bad guy. I think then, when they meet their end, it would be more impactful.

That Fight Scene...
The animation in this episode was top-notch! I especially loved the fight with Baran. The clash of swords, the energy blasts… it was all visually stunning.
But... (there's always a but, isn't there?) sometimes the choreography feels a little repetitive. Okay, I get it, Dai has a special move. But can we see something new?
I know that animating these fights is expensive and time consuming. So I applaud all of the animators.

Unpopular Opinion Alert!
I know, I know. I'm probably going to get roasted for saying this. But sometimes, I think the supporting characters are more interesting than Dai himself. Especially Maam. She is strong, but makes mistakes, and learns from them.
They have their own struggles, their own flaws. And that makes them relatable! Dai is amazing, but he is a perfect hero. He doesn't always feel like a real person.
Plus, let's be honest, who doesn't love a good underdog story? And the supporting cast definitely fits that bill!

Ultimately, I am enjoying The Adventure of Dai. It's a fun, action-packed show with a lot of heart.
"But it's okay to have a few unpopular opinions, right?"
It doesn't make me love the show any less, even if I do think the power-ups come a little too easily!
So, what are your unpopular opinions about episode 73? Let me know in the comments!
