Okay, let's talk Dragon Maid! Specifically, Season 2, Episode 7. And even MORE specifically... the dub.

Did I Just... Enjoy It More?

Here's my controversial take. I think I might... maybe... have liked the dubbed version of this episode better than the subbed. Gasp!

I know, I know. Blasphemy! Subs are sacred. But hear me out. Just for a minute.

Kanna is already peak adorable. But the English voice actor? They somehow managed to crank up the cuteness to eleven. Seriously!

Every little mumble, every sleepy "Mmm," was just chef's kiss. My heart practically melted into a puddle of pure sugary sweetness.

I felt like I needed to adopt a baby dragon immediately. My landlord would NOT be pleased.

Let's be honest, Lucoa is... a lot. In both versions.

But the dub actress really leaned into the playful, teasing nature of the character. It felt less... intense, somehow? More fun?

Maybe it's just me, but the delivery felt a little less overtly… suggestive. (Though, let's face it, she's still Lucoa).

Sometimes, jokes get lost in translation, right? Little nuances that don't quite translate the same way.

I felt like some of the comedic timing in the dub was spot-on. The delivery just felt natural.

I found myself laughing out loud at bits that I just chuckled at during the subbed version.

Tohru's love for Kobayashi is the heart of the show. No argument there.

The English voice actress captured that pure, unadulterated devotion perfectly. It was impossible not to smile.

You could practically feel the sparkles and rainbows emanating from my TV screen.

Look, I'm not saying the dub is flawless. No dub is perfect. There are always little things that purists will pick apart.

Maybe a line here or there felt a little clunky. Or maybe a character's voice wasn't exactly how I pictured it.

But overall, it was a genuinely enjoyable experience.

So, there you have it. My (possibly) wildly unpopular opinion. I enjoyed the Dragon Maid Season 2, Episode 7 dub more than the sub.

I'm not saying it's objectively better. Just that it resonated with me on a personal level.

I get it! I respect the original. But sometimes, a fresh perspective can be a good thing.
