Don't Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro Episode 12

Okay, let's talk Nagatoro. Specifically, Episode 12 of the first season.
Hear me out. I might have an unpopular opinion. Maybe even two.
The Beach Episode...That Wasn't Really A Beach Episode?
We got sand. We got swimsuits. We got sun. But did we really get a classic beach episode?
Must Read
It felt… different. Less focused on pure fan service. More focused on, dare I say, character development? Shocker!
Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe I secretly enjoy the wholesome moments more than the teasing. Don't tell anyone.
Senpai's Slow Burn
Senpai, bless his heart. He's trying. He's really trying.
But his progress is... glacial. Like watching paint dry. On a really humid day.

I get it. He's shy. He's awkward. He's basically a walking meme. But come on, dude! Throw Nagatoro a bone!
Speaking of throwing bones, that sandcastle scene was something else. Nagatoro actually seemed… sweet?
For a brief, fleeting moment, the teasing stopped. And it was kind of nice, right? Don't lie.
The Fireworks Finale: A Missed Opportunity?
The fireworks were pretty. The music was nice. The romantic tension was... palpable.

But did anyone else feel like something was missing? Like the episode ended just as things were getting interesting?
I was expecting a big confession. A dramatic realization. Maybe even a hand-holding moment! Instead, we got...more teasing.
Don't get me wrong, the teasing is funny. It's the show's bread and butter. But after twelve episodes, a little payoff would've been appreciated.
The Sakura Problem
Okay, here comes my REALLY unpopular opinion. I find Sakura annoying. There, I said it.

She's too clingy. Too possessive. Too… much. She adds nothing to the dynamic between Nagatoro and Senpai.
I know, I know. She's supposed to be a comedic foil. But I just find her grating. Anyone else with me on this?
Maybe she'll get better in later seasons. Maybe I'm just biased. But for now, she's my least favorite character. Sorry, not sorry.
Overall? Still a Good Time.
Despite my minor gripes, Episode 12 was still enjoyable. Nagatoro remains a guilty pleasure.

The animation was solid. The voice acting was great. And the dynamic between the two leads is always entertaining, even if it is frustratingly slow.
I just wish the show would take a few more risks. Push the boundaries a little. Give us something more.
But hey, maybe that's just me. Maybe I'm asking too much. Maybe I need to lighten up and enjoy the ride.
So, what do you think? Am I completely off base? Or do you secretly agree with my unpopular Nagatoro opinions?
Let me know in the comments! (If there were any comments here, of course.)
