Devil In The White City Movie Release Date 2020

Remember 2020? Yeah, that year. Apparently, it was also supposed to be the year we finally got the Devil in the White City movie. Anyone else remember hearing whispers about this... like, a decade ago?
Where Did Our Movie Go?
Leonardo DiCaprio bought the rights way back when. He was going to play H.H. Holmes. Imagine! It seemed perfect. Then… crickets. Did the devil snatch it away?
We got the news, we were told it will happen, but it never did. Is it really something we should expect at this point? I think it's okay to let it go, people.
Must Read
My Hot Take: I’m Kind of… Over It?
Okay, unpopular opinion incoming! Deep breaths. I'm not sure I want a Devil in the White City movie anymore. Hear me out!
The book is fantastic. I loved it. But some stories are just better in your head. Maybe Hollywood meddling would ruin the magic?
Think about it. Can any actor really capture the unsettling charisma of H.H. Holmes? I'm skeptical. Besides, the 1893 World's Fair feels too grand to confine to a screen.

TV to the Rescue?
I do recall hearing that a Devil in the White City television series was in the works! That sounded promising...at least for a little bit.
Then that fell apart, didn't it? Martin Scorsese and Leo were involved, and then… poof! Maybe the project is cursed.
Seriously, though, a series might actually be better. More time to delve into the details. More room to explore the characters.

The Unpopular Part, Continued
Maybe the "failure" of this movie is actually a good thing? Plenty of true crime stuff coming out these days. And some are just... not that good.
We already have the book, which is masterful! Can a film really add something of value? Or will it just be a watered-down version we complain about online?
I kind of think the book is enough. It's already a perfect blend of history and suspense. Let's just leave it at that.

What About Alternatives?
If you’re still craving a Devil in the White City fix, there are alternatives. Read the book again! Seriously, do it.
There are countless documentaries about the World's Fair. And plenty of podcasts that delve into H.H. Holmes’s crimes. Knowledge is power!
And hey, maybe one day a great adaptation will happen. But I'm not holding my breath. And honestly? I'm okay with that.

So, Let's Move On...Or Not?
So, remember that supposed 2020 Devil in the White City release date? A hilarious reminder of unrealized dreams. Maybe it's best left as a myth.
I am not saying "don't make the movie". I am just saying that if it doesn't come out, its not the end of the world.
What do you think? Am I crazy? Or are you secretly relieved that Devil in the White City remains mostly in the realm of our imaginations? Let me know!
