Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie Mugen Train

Okay, folks, let’s talk about Mugen Train. You know, that Demon Slayer movie everyone went absolutely bonkers for?

I’m gonna say something potentially controversial. Prepare yourselves.

Is It Really That Good?

Don’t get me wrong, the animation is gorgeous. Ufotable always delivers the eye candy, right? But did it live up to all the hype?

Hear me out!

I'm not saying it's bad. I'm just... underwhelmed.

Anime loves its sad backstories. Mugen Train is basically a whole movie of 'em. Did anyone not cry during Kyojuro Rengoku's final moments?

I'll admit, I got a little misty-eyed. But was I reaching for the tissues and bawling my eyes out? Nah.

Maybe I'm just dead inside? Who knows!

It feels like they cranked the "tragedy dial" up to eleven. It's effective. Very effective.

But also...a little predictable? Just a tad?

The whole dream sequence thing with Enmu? Pretty cool. Creepy. But cool!

It was a clever way to delve into the characters' desires. And those creepy kids trying to destroy the cores of their dreams were nightmare fuel.

But after a while, I found myself thinking, "Okay, enough dreams. Let's get to the demon-slaying!"

Okay, I do love Rengoku. He's like the sun. Pure, unadulterated, motivational sunshine.

His speeches were inspiring. He made me want to be a better person. He really did.

But the non-stop yelling and declarations of justice started feeling a little...much? It's just my opinion.

His death was definitely a moment. A tear-jerker. No denying that.

But even then, I couldn't help but think, "Okay, movie, you're really trying to make me cry now, aren't you?"

Tanjiro is great and all. A sweet cinnamon roll who just wants to protect his sister. We get it.

But all that screaming! My ears! Seriously, someone get that kid a lozenge.

I know he's passionate, but sometimes, a quiet moment of contemplation goes a long way.

And those headbutts! Ouch!

Poor Nezuko. She spends most of the movie in a box. Or sleeping.

She deserved more screen time! I need more head pats!

Justice for Nezuko!

Look, Mugen Train is a fun ride. It's visually stunning. It has heart.

But I think some of the overwhelming praise is a bit much. It's not a masterpiece.

Maybe I just prefer my demon slaying with a little less...over-the-top emotion.
