Dalziel And Pascoe Season 1 Episode 3

Okay, folks, let's talk Dalziel and Pascoe. Specifically, Season 1, Episode 3. Remember that one?
It's the one with the creepy vicar and the missing girl, right? Yeah, that's the one.
A Vicar Walks Into a Police Station...
Let's be honest, the whole thing felt a bit...obvious. I mean, the vicar? Really?
Must Read
Maybe it’s just me, but when they introduce a vicar who seems a little too interested in choir practice, my internal alarm bells start ringing.
I know, I know, judging people on stereotypes is bad. But television trains you, doesn't it?
Pascoe, The Voice of Reason
Thank goodness for Pascoe. He's always there being the voice of reason.
He sees through the polite facade, the carefully crafted stories. He’s the smart one, let’s admit it.
Always thinking logically while Dalziel is off chasing hunches and making politically incorrect remarks. Gotta love him!

Dalziel: A Walking, Talking Controversy
Speaking of Dalziel, he's a character, isn't he? A walking, talking controversy.
He’s rude, he’s blunt, and he probably wouldn’t survive five minutes in today’s sensitivity training. But he gets results... sometimes.
He might offend half the people he meets, but you can't deny his methods, however questionable, do eventually work.
Unpopular Opinion Time?
Here’s my unpopular opinion: this episode wasn't the best. Sorry, not sorry.
The solution felt rushed. Did we really believe that’s all there was to it?

Plus, the pacing felt a bit off compared to the other episodes in the season.
The Missing Girl Trope
The "missing girl" trope is so overdone, right? I needed something more.
While the acting was solid – as always – the storyline itself felt a bit predictable.
I was hoping for a twist, a shocking revelation, something to really make me think.
Did Anyone Else Notice...?
Okay, did anyone else think the ending was a bit abrupt? Like, “Oh, we found her! The end!”

I wanted more emotional fallout, more consequences. Just me?
Maybe they were saving the emotional depth for other episodes, but it felt like a missed opportunity here.
Still a Fan, Though!
Don't get me wrong, I still love Dalziel and Pascoe. I do!
The characters are fantastic, the Yorkshire scenery is beautiful, and the mysteries are usually engaging.
But even the best shows have their off days, right?

Let's Discuss!
So, what do you think? Am I being too harsh on Season 1, Episode 3?
Was the vicar too obvious a suspect? Did the ending leave you wanting more?
Let me know your thoughts! Maybe you can change my mind... or maybe you agree with me. Either way, let’s chat!
Maybe the real crime is that they didn't explore the interesting side characters enough. Think about it!
And Andy Dalziel's one-liners? Always a source of questionable amusement. He is incorrigible!
Peter Pascoe needs a medal for putting up with him!
