A Creepy Dollhouse with Some Seriously Familiar Faces
Ever wondered what happens when your childhood toys come to life... and they're REALLY messed up? American Horror Stories gave us a peek in Season 2, Episode 2, "Aura," and the cast might surprise you.
Forget teddy bears having tea parties. This is dark stuff, folks!
The Woman Haunted by a Past Purchase
Gabourey Sidibe, who you probably recognize from her breakout role in Precious and her various appearances in the American Horror Story universe, plays Jaslyn. She buys a smart doorbell to enhance her home's safety.
Must Read
But spoiler alert: it does anything but keep her safe!
Sidibe brings a fantastic, grounded performance to the role, making you truly feel her terror as things spiral out of control. She makes Jaslyn very human, which is important because of all the crazy around her.

Her (Slightly Skeptical) Partner
That's Max Greenfield of New Girl fame plays Bryce, Jaslyn's partner.
Bryce starts off as the voice of reason, trying to debunk all the strange occurrences captured on the doorbell camera. Of course, we all know how well skepticism works in the AHS universe, not very well!
Greenfield nails the role of the slightly exasperated but ultimately supportive partner. Seeing him in a horror role is a fun change of pace from his comedic work.

The Mysterious Repairman
Straight from Glee, and known now for his Broadway and TV appearances, is Kevin McHale.
He plays the tech support guy who might know more than he lets on. McHale always brings a quiet intensity to his roles.
His character adds another layer of unease to the already unsettling situation. It is not clear what his motivations are, but that is part of the fun.

A Deeper Dive: What Makes This Episode Tick?
The beauty of "Aura" lies in its ability to tap into everyday fears. Smart home technology is a growing trend, and this episode plays on our anxieties about privacy and security.
Gabourey Sidibe's performance is truly captivating. She sells the character's fear and vulnerability so convincingly.
And the dynamic between her and Max Greenfield provides some much-needed moments of levity amidst the horror. Especially as Bryce changes his mind later on.

Why You Should Watch (Or Re-Watch!)
If you're a fan of psychological thrillers with a touch of the supernatural, "Aura" is definitely worth checking out. The cast does a fantastic job of bringing the story to life, and the plot twists will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Plus, it's always fun to see familiar faces in new and unexpected roles!
Just maybe think twice before you install that smart doorbell...
