Cast Lord Of The Rings Return Of The King

Okay, let's talk about The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. We all love it, right? It's epic, emotional, and full of hobbits saving the world. But... (whispers) I have some thoughts.
Frodo: The Real MVP (Maybe?)
Frodo Baggins, played by the lovely Elijah Wood, gets a lot of credit. He carried the Ring! He suffered! He looked adorable in the process! But honestly, did he actually do anything besides walk?
Hear me out. Samwise Gamgee basically carried Frodo, both physically and emotionally. He fought off giant spiders! He kept Frodo from giving up. Basically, Sam deserves all the Lembas bread in Middle-earth.
Must Read
And don't even get me started on the ending! Frodo's like, "Oops, can't destroy the Ring!" Then Gollum accidentally saves the day. Frodo gets the credit? I think not.
Aragorn: King or Just Kinda Tall?
Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn? Swoon. He's brooding, rugged, and has that whole reluctant leader vibe down. But did he really need that many speeches?

Seriously, every other scene is Aragorn giving a rousing speech. I get it, you're becoming king. But maybe, just maybe, a little less talking, a little more fighting?
And let's be honest, the whole "Paths of the Dead" thing? A bit of a deus ex machina, wasn't it? Conveniently summoning an army of ghosts right when you need them? Felt a little... easy.
The Ending: How Many Endings Do We Need?
Okay, this is my biggest gripe. The ending of Return of the King is like, five endings rolled into one. We get the Ring being destroyed, Sauron vanquished, Aragorn crowned, the hobbits returning home... and then another ending with them sailing off.

Each ending is beautiful, don't get me wrong. But after the third one, I'm thinking, "Okay, guys, we get it! Good triumphed over evil! Can we wrap this up?" It's emotionally exhausting!
It's like Peter Jackson was afraid to cut anything. Bless his heart, he wanted to give us everything! But sometimes, less is more. Imagine the theatrical release.
Eowyn: Slayer of Nazgûl, Slayer of Boredom
Let's give some love to Eowyn, played by Miranda Otto. "I am no man!" Chills. Absolute chills. She's brave, fierce, and doesn't take any nonsense from anyone.

She basically tells Aragorn, "I like you, but I'm not going to sit around and wait for you to notice me." Girl power! Take that, Middle-earth patriarchy!
And she defeats the Witch-king! That's arguably way cooler than anything Frodo did. (Sorry, Frodo!)
Unpopular Opinion: Boromir Was Right (Kind Of)
Alright, here's where I might lose some of you. Remember Boromir? The guy who tried to take the Ring? Yeah, he's usually portrayed as the "bad guy."

But think about it. He was trying to protect Gondor! He saw the Ring as a weapon against Sauron. Maybe he was a bit misguided, but his heart was in the right place.
Maybe, just maybe, a super weapon is better to fight evil than entrusting to a naive halfling. At least there's a logic to it.
So, yeah. The Return of the King is a masterpiece. But it's also a movie with some... quirks. Feel free to disagree. But maybe, just maybe, I've planted a seed of doubt. And isn't that what good debates are all about?
