Is It Just Me, Or Is Spider-Man: Far From Home… Overrated?

Okay, okay, before you @ me, hear me out. I know it's a superhero movie. I know Tom Holland is adorable.

But can we talk about Spider-Man: Far From Home for a sec? Specifically, can we talk about whether it's actually…rent-worthy these days?

The Initial Hype Was Real

Remember when it first came out? Everyone lost their minds! The special effects! The European vacation! Mysterio!

We all rushed to theaters, credit cards in hand, ready to experience the next big chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I get it. I was there too. I even bought the special edition Blu-ray (don't judge).

But Time Changes Everything

Now, a few years down the line...does it still hold up? That's the real question.

Maybe it's just me, but something feels...off. Like a web-slinger who’s run out of web fluid.

Let's Talk Plot Holes (Gently)

I'm not saying it's a bad movie. But the plot? Sometimes it feels like it's being held together with duct tape and Peter Parker's quick wit.

Some of the motivations seem a little…convenient, don't you think?

And don't even get me started on the whole "illusion" thing. A little too much smoke and mirrors for my taste, especially considering who we're dealing with.

One of the things that made the earlier Spider-Man movies so great was Peter Parker's relatability. He was a kid juggling school, rent, and supervillains.

In Far From Home, he's jet-setting around Europe, dealing with international conspiracies. I mean, relatable for a superhero, sure. But for us regular folks?

I miss the days when Peter Parker was just trying to make rent, not save the world (again).

So, Should You Rent It?

Look, if you're a die-hard Marvel fan, or just want to see Tom Holland in action, go for it! It's a fun movie!

But if you're looking for something truly groundbreaking, or a superhero movie with a deeply complex plot...maybe explore some other options.

There are tons of other films out there. Maybe something with less CGI and more character development. Or maybe something completely different!

Perhaps a nice documentary about squirrels? Just throwing it out there.

My Unpopular Opinion?

Okay, here it is: I think Spider-Man: Far From Home is a fun, but ultimately forgettable, chapter in the MCU.

It's not bad, but it's also not...amazing. (Sorry, had to).

Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe I've seen too many superhero movies. Or maybe, just maybe, Far From Home isn't quite as perfect as we all initially thought.
