Bold And The Beautiful Season 1 Episode 1
Remembering the '80s: My Bold & The Beautiful Episode 1 Confession
Okay, I'm just going to say it. I watched the first episode of The Bold and the Beautiful. Yes, episode 1. And... I kind of loved it. Don't judge me!
First of all, the hair. Let’s talk about the hair. It was glorious, teased, and probably single-handedly responsible for a minor depletion in the ozone layer.
Brooke's Innocence (or Lack Thereof)
We meet a very young Brooke Logan. Remember when she was supposed to be this sweet, innocent chemist? Ha! Innocence never lasted long with Brooke, did it?
Must Read
She's instantly caught between the Forrester brothers. Already! That's commitment to a storyline right there. Talk about setting the scene!
Ridge, the hunky bad boy. Thorne, the slightly less hunky, maybe a little nicer brother. The stage was set for decades of triangle drama, and I was already hooked.
The Forrester Dynasty Takes Shape
And then there's Stephanie Forrester. What a force of nature! She immediately established herself as the queen bee. I was equal parts terrified and fascinated by her.

Eric Forrester, trying to keep the peace (good luck with that, buddy). The whole family dynamic was intense from the get-go. You just knew this was going to be messy.
The fashion show! Oh, the fashion show. It was peak '80s. Shoulder pads, sequins, and enough hairspray to hold up a small building. It was everything.
Unpopular Opinion Time
Here’s my unpopular opinion: The show was better back then. Don't get me wrong, I still watch. But something about the early episodes just had this raw, unapologetic soap opera energy.

Maybe it's the nostalgia talking. Maybe it’s the questionable fashion choices. Or maybe it's just that the stakes felt higher when everyone's hair was bigger.
Back then Ridge only had eyes for one woman, it felt like a simpler time. Now he has had eyes for half the female population on that show. Just saying.
The Seeds of Chaos
From the very first episode, you could see the cracks in the Forrester family. The rivalries, the secrets, the simmering resentments. It was all there.

Brooke was already planting the seeds of chaos. You could tell she was going to shake things up. And boy, did she ever.
I mean, the foreshadowing was subtle as a sledgehammer. But hey, it worked! I came back the next day for episode two. And the day after that.
Guilty Pleasure Confessions
Okay, so maybe The Bold and the Beautiful episode 1 wasn't high art. But it was entertaining. It was dramatic. It was pure soap opera goodness.

It also had such memorable characters. Each one was so strong and has changed over time.
Sometimes you just need a little bit of over-the-top drama and questionable romance in your life. Don’t judge me, we all have our guilty pleasures. And this is mine.
So, who else secretly loves (or loved) the early days of B&B? Let me know I'm not alone in this! Admit it, you miss the big hair too.
I find it quite comical how many decades later the same characters are still doing the same thing. I can't stop watching! How about you?
