Boku No Hero Academia Training Of The Dead

Okay, let's talk My Hero Academia: Training of the Dead. Yeah, the OVA. The one everyone kinda… forgets exists.
Zombies? Really?
Seriously, zombies? I know, I know, quirks are basically superpowers. But zombies felt... out of place. Like someone just yelled "TRENDING!" at a whiteboard meeting.
Don't get me wrong, I like zombies. Just maybe not in my MHA. My unpopular opinion? It's the weakest link.
Must Read
But the Gals Looked Awesome
Okay, credit where it's due. The girls of Class 1-A? Dressed up as zombies? Kind of amazing.
Momo's costume was particularly stellar. Resourceful queen even in the undead apocalypse.
Also, their zombie makeup was on point. Seriously, movie-level stuff.
What's the Point, Though?
Look, MHA is about pushing yourself, right? Facing challenges. Overcoming obstacles.

This felt more like... a Halloween party gone wrong. A very dramatic, anime-ified Halloween party.
The actual "training" aspect felt pretty thin. Aizawa-sensei probably sighed so hard his scarf choked him.
The Comedy Was... Okay
There were some funny moments, I'll admit. Bakugo yelling at zombies is always gold.
And Mineta getting chased? Instant classic. But the humor felt forced sometimes.
Like they were trying too hard to make the situation absurd. A bit cringe-worthy, maybe?

The Animation, However, Was Good
At least the animation quality was high. Bones always delivers on that front.
The zombie movements were suitably creepy. And the fight scenes were well-choreographed.
But pretty visuals can't save a weak plot, am I right?
The Villains Felt Like Afterthoughts
Oh yeah, there were villains. Did you even remember that? I almost didn't.
Their motivations were fuzzy. Their quirks were... there. They were just kinda there.

They're easily the most forgettable villains in the entire MHA franchise.
So, Should You Watch It?
Honestly? If you're a completionist, sure. But don't expect a life-changing experience.
It's basically filler. Fun filler, maybe, but filler nonetheless.
There are better ways to spend your time in the My Hero Academia universe.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Okay, here's the real kicker. I think Training of the Dead is overhyped (wait, is it even hyped at all?).

Compared to other MHA OVAs and specials, it just doesn't measure up. Sorry, not sorry.
Give me Save! Rescue Training! any day. Now THAT'S a good OVA!
In Conclusion... Meh
My Hero Academia: Training of the Dead is... fine. It exists. That's about it.
It's not terrible, but it's not great. It's just… there. Like that one food in the fridge you always forget about.
So, yeah, zombies in MHA? Hard pass from me. Let's stick to superpowered punch-outs, okay?
