Blue Exorcist Season 2 Episode 1 English

Okay, let's be real. We all went a little wild when Blue Exorcist Season 2 finally dropped.
Remember waiting years? Good times. Or were they?
That First Episode... An Honest Look
Specifically, let's talk about episode 1. In English, of course! Because subtitles are great, but sometimes you just want to chill.
Must Read
Now, here's where I might lose some of you. inhales deeply
Unpopular Opinion Time: The Pacing
Season 2 picked up the Kyoto Saga. But did it... really pick up?
I felt like the pacing was a bit...leisurely. Don't get me wrong, I love character development. And Rin Okumura definitely needed some.
But I was itching for more demon-slaying action! Anyone else?

It felt like we spent a lot of time setting the stage. Which, okay, fair. New arc, new stakes.
But still! Couldn't they have thrown in, like, one tiny gremlin fight? Just for kicks?
The Kyoto Crew: Still Lovable, Though
The introduction (or re-introduction) to the Kyoto branch was good. Really good.
I adore Suguro Ryuji, Shiemi Moriyama, and Renzou Shima. Their interactions are gold.
Seeing their personalities bounce off each other was a definite highlight. Especially with the impending doom of a new threat.

But even their charm couldn't fully distract me. From the fact that it felt slow.
The Animation: Undeniably Gorgeous
Okay, I can't complain about everything. The animation was stunning. Seriously, the fight scenes (however few there were) looked incredible.
And the backgrounds? Absolutely beautiful! You could practically feel the atmosphere of Kyoto.
A-1 Pictures really outdid themselves. No arguments there.
Rin's Internal Struggles: We Get It, Dude
We saw Rin grappling with his demon heritage. Again. It's a core theme of the show, obviously.

But did we need quite so much brooding in the first episode? I’m not sure, but it was there.
I get that he's conflicted. He's a half-demon trying to be a good guy. It's a classic anime trope.
Maybe I just wanted him to embrace his inner demon a little more. Just a little!
Overall: A Decent Start, But Could Have Been More
So, yeah. Blue Exorcist Season 2, Episode 1. Not bad. But not amazing either.
A solid setup. But the pacing felt a little off. Maybe I set my expectation too high after such a long wait.

I still enjoyed seeing Rin and the gang back in action. Even if that "action" mostly involved talking and inner monologues.
And the animation was top-notch. I'll give it that.
Maybe my opinion is too harsh. Tell me what you think! Am I the only one who felt this way?
Or did you love every second of it? Let's discuss!
Maybe I'm just impatient. But I wanted more demon-slaying in Blue Exorcist!
