Okay, so last week I was trying to explain the concept of "microaggressions" to my very well-meaning (but slightly clueless) Uncle Jerry. Bless his heart, he kept saying things like, "But...I don't see color!" Which, you know, isn't exactly the point, Jerry. It got me thinking though: how often do we really, truly, deeply reflect on the experiences of Black people, beyond the headlines and the history books?
Enter: Black History Month. But let's be real, it shouldn't just be a month-long thing, right? It should be a catalyst for continuous learning and understanding. And that's where journaling comes in! Think of it as your personal exploration space to really dig deep.
Why Journaling for Black History Month?
Look, we all know the highlights: Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman. Absolute legends, no doubt. But there's so much more to the story! So much nuance, so much complexity, so much…stuff! Journaling helps you move beyond the surface-level summaries and engage with the richness and diversity of Black history and culture.
