Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 1 Summary

Okay, let's be real. Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 1? It was...a lot. Remember when we were all obsessed with survey corps? Good times. Now, everything is dark. And kinda confusing, right?
The Marleyan Makeover
We start in Marley. It's like... wait, what? No walls? No titans rampaging every Tuesday? Instead, it's all World War I meets steampunk. The Eldians are now the baddies. This feels backwards, doesn't it?
Suddenly, Eren and co. are infiltrating Marley. Epic. Talk about a plot twist. We see familiar faces like Reiner, looking... not great. He is having an existential crisis. Relatable.
Must Read
The War for... Something
Marley's at war, trying to steal resources. Titans are still weapons. Kinda outdated ones, though. Tanks seem more effective. Maybe they should have invested in better tech?
We get introduced to new characters. Gabi, a wannabe armored titan. She's super gung-ho. Falco, a sweet boy. He just wants to save Gabi from herself.
Eren's Big Entrance (and Exit?)
Then BAM! Eren. Looking brooding and mysterious. He's infiltrated Marley using some seriously questionable tactics. He starts wrecking things. As you do.

The attack on Liberio is chaotic. Eren goes full Attack Titan. Buildings get smashed. People die. It's all very dramatic.
The Survey Corps shows up. They aren't playing nice anymore either. Everyone is covered in blood. Is this still the show we signed up for?
The Questionable Allies
Zeke is working with Eren. Or is he? His motivations are murkier than a Titan's saliva. He keeps talking about some "Eldian problem". Sounds ominous.

Pieck and Porco are trying to stop Eren. They're doing a pretty bad job. Poor guys. They never stood a chance against our boy, Eren.
Betrayal, Loss, and... Fried Potatoes?
Sasha dies. Remember Potato Girl? Gone. It was so sudden! I’m still not over it. The fandom went into collective mourning. And the potatoes became a symbol of sadness.
The Survey Corps escapes with Eren and Zeke. Back to Paradis. With a whole lot of questions. And a side of heavy emotional baggage.

Meanwhile, everyone is fighting amongst themselves. Trust is at an all-time low. Can't we all just get along? Unlikely. This is Attack on Titan, after all.
Unpopular Opinion Time
Okay, here's my unpopular opinion. Season 4 Part 1 was kinda... slow. A lot of talking. Not enough titan-on-titan action. Did anyone else feel that way?
Don't get me wrong, the plot is interesting. The moral ambiguity is great. But I missed the simpler times. When the biggest problem was just surviving the next titan attack.

The introduction of Marley and the war was interesting, but not as gripping as the early seasons. I wanted more Mikasa kicking butt and less political maneuvering. Sue me.
Cliffhangers and More Questions Than Answers
The season ends with so many unanswered questions. What is Eren's plan? What's up with Zeke? Can anyone be trusted? We are so ready for the next part!
The stage is set for a massive showdown. Paradis is a powder keg. Everyone is on edge. And we are all just waiting for the explosion.
So, there you have it. Season 4 Part 1 in a nutshell. Confusing? Dark? Probably. But also, undeniably Attack on Titan. And we wouldn't have it any other way... maybe.
