Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 1 Episode 1

Okay, Hear Me Out: That Attack on Titan Premiere...
Season 4 Part 1 Episode 1. Remember that? It was... different. Maybe even a little too different?
Don't get me wrong, I love Attack on Titan. But that first episode felt like a whole new show. Anyone else?
The Marleyan Makeover
Suddenly, we're in Marley! No Eren, no Mikasa, no Armin. Just...war. Lots of it.
Must Read
We're following these new characters, the Warrior Candidates. Falco? Gabi? Who are these guys?
They're fighting a war we barely understand. It's all explosions and shouting. My brain was struggling to keep up.
Where's the Titan-Slaying Action?!
Okay, I get it. War is bad. Very bad. But where are the Titans?!
I tuned in to see giant naked people getting sliced and diced. Not to watch dudes with machine guns!

I know, I know, it's a more mature storyline now. But I miss the simple days of screaming teenagers versus colossal monsters. Sue me.
Gabi: Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Let's talk about Gabi. The "brave" little warrior. She's... intense, to say the least.
She's all about Eldians being evil devils. Maybe a tad brainwashed? I don't know, man. I just don't like her.
And I know I'm probably supposed to sympathize with her tragic backstory. But all I feel is second-hand embarrassment when she starts yelling.

Falco: The One Good Egg?
Thankfully, there's Falco. He seems like a decent guy, concerned about his friends. He's a breath of fresh air.
Is he destined for a terrible fate? Probably. This is Attack on Titan, after all. Happiness is not allowed.
Still, I'm rooting for him. Maybe he can escape this mess somehow.
The Plot Thickens (Slowly)
So, the episode ends. And I'm left feeling...confused. And slightly bored. Did anything actually happen?

They set up a new conflict. They introduced a bunch of new characters. But did they hook me?
Honestly, I wasn't entirely sold. It felt like a very slow burn. Like waiting for water to boil.
Don't Get Me Wrong, I'm Still Watching!
Look, I'm not saying it's a bad episode. Just... unexpected. And maybe a little underwhelming.
I stuck with the show, and the season gets a lot better. We do eventually see Eren again!

But, that premiere? It's my unpopular Attack on Titan opinion. Did anyone else feel the same way?
In Conclusion: Patience, Grasshopper
The season found its groove. The story got wild. We got answers. But the premiere tested our patience.
Maybe it was meant to make us uncomfortable. To show us the other side of the conflict.
Either way, it's a memorable (if divisive) start to the final season. Just hang in there, folks!
