Attack On Titan Season 2 English Dub Funimation

Okay, folks, let's talk Attack on Titan. Season 2. Specifically, the English dub on Funimation. Are we ready for this? I have some feelings.
And before you @ me, yes, I know subs are superior to some. I get it. But sometimes, I just wanna watch, not read. Ya feel me?
The Voices: Heroes and...Others
Let's start with the good. Eren, Mikasa, Armin? Solid. Josh Grelle crushes it as Armin, giving him that perfect blend of smarts and vulnerability. Armin's one of the most compelling characters.
Must Read
And Bryce Papenbrook? He nails Eren's rage. That man can yell! You really believe he wants to kill all the Titans.
Now, for the Unpopular Opinion...
Here's where things get spicy. I have a confession. And this might be controversial.
I actually liked some of the… quirkier voices. Even the ones people complained about. Gasp!

Think about it. The world of Attack on Titan is bonkers. Giant naked people eating everyone. Maybe a little voice acting weirdness fits right in?
I'm not saying every voice was perfect. But some of the… unconventional choices? They grew on me. They added to the chaos, the absurdity.
Like, did some characters sound like they were auditioning for a community theater production of Hamlet? Maybe. But hey, at least they were committed!
The Script: "Tatakae" and Beyond
The Funimation team did a decent job translating the script. It kept the core meaning intact. It's not always easy with Japanese to English.

Plus, "Tatakae!" Just doesn't hit the same in English, does it? How can you replace something iconic like that?
They try. They really do. But sometimes, you just gotta embrace the Japanese.
Character Development...Through Dubbing?
Here's another potentially wild take. Sometimes, the English dub enhanced character development. Or at least, it gave me a different perspective.
Maybe it's because I was focusing less on reading and more on the delivery. But I swear, some lines hit harder in English. Especially the emotional stuff.

I could focus on the nuances in the voice actor's performance. It helped deepen my connection to the characters.
Season 2 Overall: Dubbed Delight?
Look, is the Attack on Titan Season 2 English dub perfect? No way. Some voices might make you cringe. A line or two might fall flat.
But overall? I enjoyed it. I found it entertaining. And sometimes, that's all that matters.
So, if you're like me and sometimes prefer to kick back and listen instead of read, give it a shot. You might be surprised. You might even find a new appreciation for the awkward charm of the Funimation dub.

And if you hate it? Hey, at least you have something to complain about online. Isn't that what the internet is for?
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go rewatch the Reiner reveal scene. Dubbed, of course. Because sometimes, a little bit of cheese is exactly what you need.
Just kidding! I love that scene. But still...dubbed. Don't judge.
Seriously, though, Attack on Titan is great. No matter how you watch it. Just enjoy the giant naked people eating folks!
