Araburu Kisetsu No Otome Domo Yo Crunchyroll

Okay, let's talk about Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo, or as Crunchyroll delightfully titles it, "O Maidens in Your Savage Season." It’s an anime about high school girls exploring the, ahem, joys of…well, you know. The forbidden fruit.
Now, here's where my probably unpopular opinion comes in. Everyone seems to praise it for being super insightful and realistic. But does anyone else think it's just a tad overdramatic?
The "Realism" Thing
I get it, it's trying to be honest. High school is awkward. Talking about those things is even more awkward. But the level of existential angst these girls go through? C'mon.
Must Read
It feels like every episode is a Shakespearean tragedy about…puberty. Maybe I'm just old and jaded, but I remember being way more concerned with pizza than profound philosophical questions about my body.
And the screaming! So. Much. Screaming. Did nobody just quietly google things on their phone? It’s 2024, people! The internet exists!

The Characters: Relatable or Just... Loud?
The characters themselves are...intense. Kazusa Onodera is basically the poster child for teen awkwardness. And don't even get me started on Rika Sonezaki. Girl needs to chill.
I appreciate the attempt at diverse personalities. But sometimes, it feels like they're all just dialed up to eleven. Less nuanced exploration of teenage feelings, more operatic melodrama.

Let's be real, who hasn't felt some form of those feelings? The execution sometimes feels a bit... forced, though.
It’s Not All Bad (I Promise!)
Okay, okay, I'm being harsh. The animation is pretty. The opening theme is catchy. And there are definitely moments that hit the mark.
The series touches on some genuinely important issues, like female agency and societal expectations. But it’s wrapped in so much theatrical sobbing, it’s easy to miss.

Plus, there's a certain morbid curiosity factor. You kinda want to see what hilariously awkward situation they'll get into next. Like a train wreck, you can't look away.
Final Thoughts (and Possibly More Unpopular Opinions)
So, is O Maidens in Your Savage Season a masterpiece of insightful storytelling? I'm not convinced. Is it entertaining? Absolutely.

It's the kind of show you watch with your friends and then spend hours dissecting (and making fun of). And sometimes, that's all you really need.
Maybe my expectations were too high. Or maybe I just prefer my anime with a little less…hormonal chaos. Either way,
it definitely sparked some interesting conversations. And that, I guess, is something.
So go watch it. Form your own opinion. And then come yell at me in the comments about how wrong I am. I'm ready.
