American Horror Story Season 10 Episode 6 Review

Okay, Let's Talk "Winter Kills" (AHS: Double Feature, Part 1)
Alright, American Horror Story fans. We need to have a little chat about Season 10, Episode 6, "Winter Kills." Buckle up, buttercups, because some of my opinions might sting a little.
Was I the only one who found it…kinda…boring? Don't throw tomatoes yet! Hear me out.
The Cold, Hard Truth
The premise of the Chemburrow family holed up in Provincetown during the off-season? Genius! The pale people lurking in the shadows? Spooky! Finn Wittrock looking effortlessly tragic? Always a win.
Must Read
But something felt...off. Like a stale clam chowder left out overnight. You know, not quite right.
We’ve seen haunted houses, creepy killers, and alien abductions. Heck, we’ve even seen Sarah Paulson get possessed by a ghost nun. This just felt...underwhelming.
The "Talent" Show (Or Lack Thereof?)
Let's be real. Mickey (Macaulay Culkin) and Belle (Frances Conroy) were the saving grace. Their dynamic? Hilarious. Their talent to kill? Awesome!

But the rest? Lily Rabe's Doris felt…well, mostly annoying. Sorry, not sorry! Maybe the sickly green hair got to me.
And Harry (Finn Wittrock)? Poor guy. He spent most of the episode looking confused and constipated. Artistic block is a real struggle, I guess.
Unpopular Opinion Incoming!
Here it comes... I think the whole "talent pill" storyline was a bit silly.
The idea that taking a pill can instantly turn you into a literary genius or a master painter? Come on! I’d be popping pills all day if that were true.

It felt like a shortcut. Like the writers were saying, "Hey, let's just handwave away any need for actual character development or plot complexity with a magic pill!"
The Bloody Mess That Wasn't
AHS is known for its gore. Its shock value. Its "Did they really just do that?!" moments. This episode lacked that punch.
Sure, there was some blood. There were some pale people snacking on unsuspecting tourists. But it felt...tame.
I wanted to be horrified. I wanted to clutch my pearls. Instead, I found myself checking my phone. Oops!

Was It All Bad? Of Course Not!
Look, I'm not saying "Winter Kills" was a complete disaster. There were definitely some moments of brilliance. The cinematography was gorgeous. The atmosphere was suitably bleak and unsettling.
And like I said, Mickey and Belle were fantastic. Frances Conroy can read the phone book and make it compelling. And seeing Macaulay Culkin in anything is always a treat.
But overall, it felt like a missed opportunity. A promising premise that didn't quite live up to its potential.
My Final Verdict
So, what's my final verdict on American Horror Story: Double Feature, Part 1 Episode 6? Mediocre.

Not terrible, but not great. Just…meh. Like a lukewarm bath on a cold winter night.
Hopefully, Part 2, Death Valley, will bring the heat. Because frankly, this Cape Cod story needed a bit more spice.
So, what do you think? Am I being too harsh? Or do you agree that "Winter Kills" was a bit of a letdown? Let me know in the comments!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to take another look at Murder House to remind myself what great AHS truly looks like!
