American Horror Story Season 10 Episode 1 Cast

Okay, let's talk American Horror Story: Double Feature, specifically the first episode, "Cape Fear." The cast, right? Some heavy hitters showed up to play.

We’ve got the usual suspects. You know, the ones who basically live at Ryan Murphy's house. And then… well, some choices were made.

The Familiar Faces

First, Sarah Paulson. Of course, she's there! It wouldn't be AHS without her screaming strategically. This time, she was playing Tuberculosis Karen. Dramatic, I know.

Then we have Evan Peters! He was Austin Sommers, a struggling writer. He's pretty fantastic playing the part, like always. Does this guy ever age?

Billie Lourd showed up too. She was Lark, another local. Her acting was, well, Billie Lourd. Take that as you will!

And how about Finn Wittrock, who embodied Harry Gardener? He really knows how to do the "tortured artist" thing. He did it in Hotel and Roanoke. Now he's doing it again!

The New (ish) Blood

There was also Lily Rabe as Doris Gardener. She was very pregnant and very whiny. Honestly, she felt underutilized.

We met Angelica Ross. She was The Chemist. Finally, they gave her a truly interesting role that wasn't immediately killed off!

Leslie Grossman was Ursula. She was Harry's agent. Let’s just say that character would need to be punched. A lot.

The "Okay, That's a Choice" Casting

Here’s where things get interesting. I have to be honest, I'm not sure if I really loved Macaulay Culkin as Mickey. He brought a… certain energy. I didn’t hate it, but I didn't totally love it either.

He was gloriously chaotic, sure. But at times, it felt a little like they just wanted to say, "Hey, it's Macaulay Culkin!" rather than using him effectively.

Maybe that’s just me being a cynical viewer. I will admit, he did have some pretty fantastic moments. But he just didn't have the "it" factor.

And I will say this. The overall cast dynamic felt a bit… off. It's like they threw a bunch of talented people into a blender and hoped for the best.

Unpopular Opinion Time

Okay, here's where I get controversial. I think some of these actors are getting typecast. They play the same variations of the same character. Every. Single. Season. Don’t @ me!

I love these actors, truly. But I’m ready for something different from them. Give Sarah Paulson a role where she doesn't scream every five minutes.

I’m hoping the rest of the season shakes things up. It would be nice to see some fresh character. And a different kind of performance from our favorites!

Ultimately, "Cape Fear" gave us a mixed bag. Some brilliant performances, some questionable casting choices. And a whole lot of screaming. Classic AHS, really.
