Amazon Prime Video Volume Too Low On Laptop

Is it just me, or is Amazon Prime Video always quiet on laptops?
Seriously. I'm not hearing things, right? Every other streaming service is perfectly audible.
Then I switch to Prime Video, and suddenly I'm lip-reading. My neighbors probably think I'm practicing for a silent film.
The eternal volume quest
It begins innocently enough. You settle in, ready for a binge. Maybe some popcorn is involved.
Must Read
You hit play, and…nothing. Or rather, a whisper of sound. Is my laptop broken?
Nope. It's just Prime Video being... Prime Video.
The frantic volume button clicking ensues. Up, up, up! Max volume engaged. Still... quiet.
Suddenly my computer becomes a booming party machine when I change to youtube. I quickly change the volume from 100 to 15. Back to Prime Video? Quiet as a church mouse.

The deep dive into settings
So, naturally, the troubleshooting begins. I check every setting imaginable.
Is the volume mixer betraying me? Are my drivers up to date? I'm pretty sure I've aged five years in the last fifteen minutes.
Every tab on my laptop is now volume related, with the exception of google search for my favorite cat breeds.
Headphones: The necessary evil?
Eventually, surrender feels inevitable. The headphones come out.
Suddenly, everything is deafeningly loud. There's no in-between. My ears are not happy.

But at least I can hear what's happening. Is this the price of enjoying The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel?
The Unpopular Opinion (maybe?)
Here's where I might lose some of you. I think Amazon knows.
Maybe, just maybe, they're doing this on purpose. A subtle nudge towards using... other devices?
Think about it: crystal-clear audio on the TV, perfect sound on your tablet. But the laptop? A whisper.

The "Solve" that isn't really a solve
I've tried all the supposed fixes. Boosting the bass, enabling loudness equalization.
Somehow, I always end up back at square one. Tweaking settings, fiddling with volume sliders, all for a moderate increase in volume.
It’s like trying to catch smoke with a sieve. Infuriating.
The Collective Sigh
I bet I'm not the only one. Somewhere, someone else is battling the same quiet demons.
Silently (pun intended) raising the volume on their laptop. Sharing the frustration.

Perhaps one day, Amazon will hear our cries (or rather, whispers). Until then, pass the headphones. And maybe some earplugs, just in case.
A life hack
As a hack, I try to download the movie on my laptop before I travel. If I'm on a plane, there's less of a chance that I'm not going to find good internet to keep me entertained.
And when I download the movie, the volume miraculously goes higher! No need to connect to the internet. That's the key.
But of course, the downside is having to have more space on my computer for a downloaded movie. A necessary evil!
Maybe it's time to just invest in a really good pair of noise-canceling headphones. Problem solved!
