Amazon Prime Video Venom Let There Be Carnage

Okay, people, let's talk Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Yeah, the one you probably streamed on Amazon Prime Video last weekend.
I know, I know. Critics weren't exactly showering it with praise. But hear me out.
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
I actually kind of... enjoyed it? Don't throw tomatoes just yet.
Must Read
Look, it's not Citizen Kane. We're not solving world hunger here. It's a superhero movie about a dude and his alien goo buddy. That's it.
Maybe I'm just easy to please. A shiny, CGI fight scene and some goofy banter? That's my jam.
The Eddie & Venom Bromance is GOLD
Seriously, the relationship between Eddie Brock and Venom is the heart of this whole thing. It's like a really weird, co-dependent marriage.
They argue, they bicker, they share snacks (questionable snacks, mind you). What's not to love?

Tom Hardy clearly has fun with this role. He's like a grumpy dad trying to control his overly enthusiastic, monstrous son. And I live for it.
It’s over Eddie, I have the high ground!
Forget the plot for a second. Just watch their interactions. It's pure comedic gold.
Carnage? More like... Carna-cutely-evil-ish?
Woody Harrelson as Carnage? Okay, yeah, I get the criticism. Maybe he wasn't the scariest villain ever.

But let's be real, did we really need a deeply nuanced, psychologically terrifying villain in a movie where an alien parasite yells about chocolate?
He's perfectly serviceable as a chaotic, red goo monster who wants to cause mayhem. Sometimes, that's all you need.
The Action is Pure, Unadulterated Chaos
Did anyone actually understand what was happening during the final fight? Probably not.
But did it look cool? Absolutely! Giant monsters smashing into things? Yes, please!

The special effects were decent. The choreography was wild. It was a visual feast of destruction.
So, Why All the Hate?
Maybe I'm just out of touch. Maybe I have low standards.
But I think a lot of people went into Venom: Let There Be Carnage expecting Shakespeare. It was never going to be that.
It's a silly, over-the-top superhero movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. And sometimes, that's exactly what you need after a long day.

Maybe it's the perfect movie to watch on Amazon Prime Video when you just want to switch your brain off and enjoy some mindless entertainment.
Final Thoughts (and a Secret Confession)
Look, I'm not saying it's a masterpiece. I'm not saying it deserves an Oscar. (Although, Tom Hardy does deserve some kind of award for sheer commitment to weirdness.)
But I laughed. I was entertained. And I didn't regret the hour and a half I spent watching it.
And here's my confession: I'll probably watch it again on Amazon Prime Video next week. Don't judge me.
