All Scary Movies That Came Out In 2018

2018. A simpler time. Before, you know… everything. But hey, at least we had some scary movies, right?
The Big Names That Made Us Jump (A Little)
Let's be honest, Halloween was the big one. Michael Myers back again. Slicing and dicing like he never left. Did it reinvent the slasher wheel? Nah. But it was fun.
Then there was A Quiet Place. Creepy monsters. Silent families. Suspense that made your popcorn taste like cardboard. Pretty good, I thought. Although, whispering for that long kind of gave me a headache.
Must Read
The Nun? Valak's back! Part of the Conjuring universe. Spooky atmosphere for sure. But did it really scare me? Eh. More jump scares than genuine terror, if you ask me. (Unpopular opinion alert!)
The "Hey, I Saw That!" Movies
Okay, so maybe you caught Hereditary. That movie was… something. Disturbing is an understatement. Ari Aster really knows how to mess with your head. I'm still not sure I liked it, but I can't deny it was effective.

Anyone remember Overlord? Nazi zombies! Yes, you read that right. A bit campy, a bit gory, and surprisingly entertaining. Perfect for a Friday night with pizza and friends.
And what about Truth or Dare? The movie where if you don't do the dare, you… well, you die. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but the dares got kinda lame, didn't they? Still, a fun premise!

The Underdogs (Or Undead-Dogs?)
Revenge flew under the radar for a lot of people. A brutal and stylish revenge thriller. Think Quentin Tarantino meets backwoods horror. Definitely worth a watch if you're into that sort of thing.
Summer of 84 gave us some serious Stranger Things vibes. A group of kids suspects their neighbor is a serial killer. Nostalgic and suspenseful. A slow burn, but worth the wait.

Let’s not forget Unsane. Shot entirely on an iPhone! Pretty cool concept. Claire Foy is excellent. A psychological thriller that really messes with your perception of reality.
My Hot Take: Was 2018 a Great Year for Horror?
Honestly? Not the best. We had some standouts, sure. But a lot of the movies felt… predictable. Lots of jump scares. Recycled plots. Where's the originality, people?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed some of these films. But I'm always hoping for something truly groundbreaking. Something that will stay with me long after the credits roll. A truly scary movie, you know?
Maybe I'm just too hard to please. Or maybe I've seen too many horror movies. But hey, that's just my opinion. What did you think of the 2018 horror movie lineup? Let me know!
Unpopular Opinion Alert: I actually preferred some of the smaller, indie horror films to the big-budget blockbusters. They just felt more… genuine.
