Alice In The Country Of Hearts Volume 6

Okay, Let's Talk Hearts, Specifically Volume 6
So, we all love Alice in the Country of Hearts, right? The tea parties, the clock rabbits, the dangerously attractive men… what's not to adore? But let's be real about Volume 6 for a minute.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it! It's not like I hate the series or anything. But I have some thoughts.
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Maybe I'm alone on this island, but Volume 6 felt a little... slow? Like we were just treading water before the next big tidal wave of plot hit us. Anyone else feel this way?
Must Read
I love getting more of Alice's inner thoughts, of course. But sometimes it felt like we were just rehashing things we already knew. "I don't understand my feelings!" Yes, Alice, we know! You've been saying that for six volumes!
And speaking of feelings… the love interests were a little extra clingy in this one, weren’t they? I understand they're all vying for her affection, but tone it down, fellas! Give the girl some space to breathe!

Where's the Chaos?
The charm of Heart no Kuni no Alice is in the utter madness. The bizarre rules, the constant danger, the fact that everyone is slightly unhinged. But volume 6 felt like it dialed back on the crazy a bit.
I missed the over-the-top antics of Blood Dupre. Where were the ridiculous hat-themed schemes? The flamboyant declarations of… well, you know! He was subdued!
And Peter White? He's usually so unsettlingly charming. In this volume he just... stood there. Being… rabbit-y. More mischief, please!

Maybe it's just me, but I felt like the plot took a nap. There were moments of excitement, sure. But overall, it didn't grab me the way the other volumes did.
The Good Stuff is Still Good!
Now, don't get me wrong! It's still Alice in the Country of Hearts. The art is gorgeous as always. The characters are still loveable (even when they're annoying).
And let's be honest, any excuse to spend more time with these characters is a good one. Even if they're just standing around angsting about their feelings.

The development of Alice herself continues to be interesting. Watching her navigate this insane world and try to figure out her own heart is compelling. Even if she takes her sweet time about it!
So, What's the Verdict?
Volume 6 isn't bad, not at all. It's just... not my favorite. Maybe it was a necessary bridge to get us to the next exciting part of the story.
Or maybe I'm just being overly critical! What do you think?

Let me know if you agree or disagree! Maybe you thought Volume 6 was a masterpiece. I'm open to being convinced!
At the end of the day, I'm still a huge fan of the series. And I'm eagerly awaiting the next volume. I just hope it brings back some of that delicious chaos and mayhem that I crave!
Because let's face it, a little bit of madness makes the heart grow fonder. Or at least, it makes for a more interesting read. Bring on the crazy!
