Alice In The Country Of Hearts Volume 1

Okay, let's talk about Alice in the Country of Hearts, Volume 1. Prepare yourselves. My opinions might be a little controversial.
Everyone seems to adore this series. All those hot guys vying for Alice's attention? Sounds great, right?
Well, I have to admit... I wasn't completely sold at first.
Must Read
The Wonderland Gang: Are They Really That Great?
Let's be honest, the Wonderland residents are a bit...intense. The Hatter? Kinda scary. The March Hare and Mad Hatter? A chaotic duo for sure!
And Blood Dupre? Yikes. I appreciate a good villain, but he's a bit much. It's a lot of crazy to handle.
Don't get me wrong. There are appealing characters. The Cheshire Cat has that mysterious charm. But a few characters just felt over the top.

Alice Herself: Is She Relatable?
Now, Alice. She's supposed to be our guide in this bizarre world. But sometimes, I wanted to shake her. Why is she so calm amidst this chaos?
I get that she's trying to be logical. I mean, the logic is very stretched in Wonderland. But her emotional response seems muted. It’s a little weird.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I prefer my heroines a little more...reactive. I wanted her to scream or run away at least once!
The Plot: A Little Confusing, No?
The plot? Let's just say it's not exactly a straightforward fairytale. There are territories, truces, and...killing games? I mean... really?

I appreciate a good twist, but sometimes it felt like things were just thrown in for shock value. A little too much drama for my taste, perhaps.
I had to reread sections a couple of times to fully understand. Maybe I am slow. But this wasn't a quick breezy read, that’s for sure.
"But it's a reimagining of Alice in Wonderland!"
Yes, I know! And I love the original Alice in Wonderland. Maybe that’s why I had such high expectations. It felt like a different beast altogether.

That said, I get the appeal. It’s a dark and twisted take on a classic. The art is fantastic, and the character designs are top-notch.
And honestly, there's something strangely compelling about all the madness. You kind of want to know what happens next, even if you’re slightly terrified.
So, Did I Actually Like It?
Okay, okay. I admit it. Despite my complaints, I did enjoy Alice in the Country of Hearts, Volume 1. Just not as much as everyone else seems to.
It's a flawed but fascinating series. I'll probably pick up the next volume. Curiosity gets the best of me, always.

Maybe Alice will finally show some real emotion. Or maybe the Hatter will offer me a decent cup of tea. We'll see!
Don't get me wrong. The premise is great, the art style is lovely, and the characters - while sometimes a bit...much - have some interesting qualities. I might even grow to adore them.
The point is, it's good to read things with an open mind and not follow the crowds. It's okay to have unpopular opinions.
After all, even in Wonderland, not everyone has to agree!
