Alexander And The Terrible Horrible Full Movie Cast

Okay, Let's Talk Alexander and That Cast
Remember Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day? The one with all the disasters?
It came out in 2014. Feeling old yet?
I have some... thoughts. Especially about the cast.
Must Read
The Coopers: A Family of Stars (and Mishaps)
Steve Carell as the dad? Solid choice. He's got that lovable, slightly pathetic vibe down pat.
But... was he really believable as a struggling dad trying to get back into the workforce?
I'm not so sure. Maybe it's just me.
Then there's Jennifer Garner as the mom, Kelly. Always lovely. Always put-together (until the very bad day, of course!).
She nails the stressed-out, working mom role. No complaints there.
Though, let's be real, who looks that good after pulling an all-nighter?

The Kids: Where My "Unpopular" Opinion REALLY Begins
Let's get to the kids, shall we? This is where things get spicy. In my humble opinion, of course.
Dylan Minnette as Anthony? Handsome devil, for sure. But was he truly convincing as the popular, lovesick teenager?
I'm on the fence about it.
Now, Kerris Dorsey as Emily. The aspiring actress. Okay, she was good.
But something about her performance felt a tad over-the-top at times. Am I the only one?
Maybe it's just the script, I don't know. It probably is!

And then... we have Ed Oxenbould as Alexander himself.
Look, the kid's adorable. He embodies the "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad" part perfectly.
He sells the frustration. You genuinely feel sorry for the kid. But was it too much?
The Supporting Characters: Did They Fit?
Megan Mullally as Nina? Comedy gold. No arguments there.
And Donald Elise Watkins as Celia? He totally sold the part of the kid on the stage in the play!
Josh Rush as Trevor was also great!

But overall?
I feel like the cast was… slightly miscast. Don't get me wrong, they're all talented actors. Phenomenal actors even.
But sometimes, the chemistry just wasn't quite there, you know?
And maybe that's the point! A family of misfits experiencing the worst day of their lives together!
The Verdict (My Unpopular One)
Okay, hear me out. I think some of the casting choices felt a little too... "Hollywood."
Did they all feel like a regular family experiencing an absolutely bonkers day? Sometimes, yes. Sometimes, no.

Perhaps that was part of the charm. It was a fun movie! It just wasn't perfect.
But hey, what movie is, really?
Maybe I'm being too critical. Maybe I need to re-watch it.
Or maybe, just maybe, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is perfectly imperfect. Just like life.
And maybe that's the whole point.
What do you think?
