Alderamin On The Sky Light Novel English

Okay, let's talk about something. Something... specific. It's about Alderamin on the Sky. Yes, that light novel series.
Is it just me...?
Does anyone else think Ikta Solork is secretly a cat? Hear me out. He's lazy, brilliant, and only motivated by naps and beautiful women.
Sounds about right, right? Don't even get me started on his strategies.
Must Read
I know, I know. He's supposed to be this amazing tactician. But seriously, his plans sometimes feel like he just throws things at the wall and hopes something sticks.
The Unpopular Opinion Zone
And here comes the spicy part. Is Alderamin on the Sky... overrated? Now, before you grab your pitchforks, let me explain.
The world-building is cool, I'll give it that. But some of the characters felt a bit... cardboard-y, you know?
Like, they have their one defining trait and that's it. They repeat it for the entire novel.

I think sometimes the author fell in love with the idea of the characters, but not the actual execution of them.
Especially the ladies! Sometimes it feels like they just revolve around Ikta. Give them some independent agency, please!
It's not like I hate the series. I finished it, didn't I? But sometimes I was just reading to see what ridiculously convoluted plan Ikta would come up with next.
And to see if Yatorishino Igsem would finally confess her feelings. Talk about a slow burn!

The Translation Blues
Now, let's discuss the English translation. Sometimes it's fantastic. And other times... well, it's a bit rough around the edges.
There were moments where I had to reread sentences multiple times. And I still didn't understand what was going on.
Like, did someone just run that through Google Translate and call it a day?
The "But... Why?" Moments
Also, anyone else confused by some of the plot points? There were a few times I was like, "Wait, how did we get here?"

Maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention. Or maybe the plot took a detour into Crazy Town.
It happens to the best of us, right?
And don't even get me started on the military jargon. I'm pretty sure I understood maybe half of what they were talking about during battles.
I just nodded along and hoped for the best. "Yes, strategically sound maneuver! Indeed!"

Overall, Alderamin on the Sky is... fine. It's an okay read. It entertained me for a while. But it's not going to be on my "Best Light Novels Ever" list.
Unless, of course, Ikta finally gets a lifetime supply of naps and Chamille Kitra Katjvanmaninik learns how to relax.
Then, maybe, just maybe, I'll reconsider.
So, what do you think? Am I completely off base? Or do you secretly agree with my slightly controversial opinions?
Let me know! And don't be afraid to tell me I'm wrong. I can handle it. (Probably.)
