Abc 2020 Escape From A House Of Horror

Okay, let's talk about that show. You know the one. The one with the spooky house and the even spookier challenges? Yeah, I'm talking about Abc 2020 Escape From A House Of Horror.
And maybe I'm alone here, but did anyone else think it was…kinda cheesy? I mean, supposed to be scary, but sometimes it was hilariously bad.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good haunted house. But this? This felt like a haunted house designed by a committee who had only seen horror movies described to them.
Must Read
The "Horror" That Wasn't Really Horror
First off, the jump scares. Predictable! You knew when a ghoul was going to pop out. It was like they were announcing, "Boo! Get ready to be mildly startled!"
And the acting? Oh boy. I've seen better performances at my niece's school play. Bless their hearts, they tried. They really did.
But when someone screams because a plastic spider falls on them? I just can't. Sorry, not buying it.

Unpopular Opinion Time: The Challenges Were…Lame
Now, the challenges were supposed to be these tests of courage and mental fortitude, right? Instead, they felt like something out of a kids' party.
I mean, remember the one where they had to sort through a pile of "body parts" to find a key? Looked like leftover Halloween decorations from the dollar store. Sorry not scary.
Then there was the room filled with rats. Or...what were supposed to be rats. I am not even sure they were real rats.

The One Thing I Actually Liked
Okay, okay, I'm being harsh. There was one thing I genuinely enjoyed: the contestants' reactions. Some of them were pure gold.
Especially that one guy who screamed like a tea kettle whenever anything even remotely spooky happened. You go, tea kettle man!
Seeing people freak out over fake blood and cobwebs is always entertaining. Even if the source of their fear is, well, a little silly.
Was It Really That Bad?
Maybe I'm being too critical. After all, it's just a TV show. It's meant to be a fun, lighthearted escape (pun intended!).

And in that sense, it succeeded. I certainly wasn't bored. I was often laughing. Just not always for the reasons the producers intended.
But I wanted the show to be better. I wanted to believe that the House of Horror was actually scary. It just felt like a letdown.
Final Verdict: More Funny Than Frightening
So, Abc 2020 Escape From A House Of Horror? More comedy than horror, in my humble opinion.

Still, I watched every episode. So maybe, just maybe, I secretly enjoyed it. Or maybe I just enjoy complaining. Who knows?
But if they bring it back next year, I'll probably watch it again. Just don't expect me to take it seriously.
Next time, maybe more realistic monsters and less rubber spiders?
Because the true horror was how underwhelming the horror was. That's the real fright!
