A Touch Of Glass Only Fools And Horses

Was "A Touch of Glass" Really That Good?
Okay, let's be honest. Only Fools and Horses is a national treasure. We all know it. We all love it.
But sometimes, I wonder... are we all blinded by nostalgia?
I'm talking about "A Touch of Glass," the episode where Del Boy tries to pass himself off as an antiques expert.
Must Read
The Hype is Real... Right?
Everyone raves about it! Apparently, it's peak Only Fools. Hilarious from start to finish.
But hear me out. Is it really the best episode? Or are we just saying that because it's iconic?
I mean, Del Boy trying to sound posh is always funny. That's a given.
And Rodney's awkwardness? Gold. Pure gold.

But does this episode have that special spark, that something that makes it truly exceptional?
The Auction Scene: A Bit...Predictable?
The auction scene is supposed to be the highlight. The big payoff. The comedy apex.
But let's face it: You pretty much know what's going to happen. Del Boy will mess up. Big time.
And Rodney will be mortified. Classic Only Fools formula.
Don't get me wrong. It is funny! But is it groundbreakingly funny? I'm not so sure.

Maybe it's just me, but the whole "posh accent" thing felt a bit...overdone? Perhaps they could have gone in another direction.
Other Episodes Deserve More Love
What about "The Jolly Boys' Outing"? Or "Miami Twice"?
These episodes have just as much heart, humor, and memorable moments.
And arguably, a little more originality. They pushed boundaries in different ways.

Why does "A Touch of Glass" get all the glory?
Maybe it's the simplicity. Or maybe it's just the power of repetition.
We've seen it so many times, it's become ingrained in our collective comedy consciousness. Is it a case of Emperor's new clothes?
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
I know, I know. I'm probably going to get hate mail for this. But I had to say it.
"A Touch of Glass" is a good episode. Definitely. It gave us plenty of brilliant lines.

But it's not the best. There are other gems in the Only Fools and Horses crown.
Maybe, just maybe, we should spread the love around a little.
Let's appreciate all the episodes that made us laugh until we cried. Not just the most famous one.
Perhaps it's time for a re-evaluation. A fresh perspective on the brilliance of Only Fools and Horses.
Who's with me?
Lovely jubbly, let the debate begin!
