A Series Of Unfortunate Events Season 1 Episode 7

A Series Of Unfortunate Events Season 1 Episode 7

Okay, let's talk The Miserable Mill: Part One. Or, as I like to call it, "Where everyone apparently forgot how to use a saw."

I know, I know, the Baudelaire's are always in a pickle. But this mill? It just felt...extra.

Dr. Orwell? More Like Dr. Over-Acting!

Don't get me wrong, I love a good villain. But Dr. Orwell? She was a bit much, even for A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Her hypnotism was less scary, more like a really bad infomercial. "You WILL buy my extended warranty!"

The Foreman's Fashion Choices

Okay, someone needs to talk to Foreman Flacutono about his wardrobe. That eye patch? Maybe save it for Halloween.

He looked like a pirate who’d lost his ship and settled for middle management. Honestly, a little sympathy for the guy.

"A man who knows he has been defeated can do nothing more to win." - Lemony Snicket. But seriously, maybe a new stylist?

Unpopular Opinion: I Kind of Liked the Snicket File Gag

I know some people found it repetitive. But I always got a little chuckle out of that interrupting Snicket file.

It's like Lemony Snicket was trying to warn us within the show. Meta-commentary gold!

Plus, who hasn't been interrupted by a pop-up ad at the worst possible moment? Relatable, really.

Justice for Charles!

Okay, maybe I'm alone on this. But I felt genuinely bad for Charles.

He was just trying to be nice! Offering the Baudelaires a tour, being generally helpful...and then BAM!

Hypnotized and forced to be mean. Poor guy. Someone get him a hug (and maybe some therapy).

Klaus's Hypnotized State: Hilarious (Sorry, Klaus!)

I know, I know, he was under mind control. It was supposed to be serious.

But Klaus stumbling around, spouting nonsense? I laughed. A little. Don't judge me!

He looked like a confused puppy. A very smart, vocabulary-savvy, hypnotized puppy.

The Sawmill Itself: Kind of Creepy Cool

Say what you will about the plot. That sawmill set design was actually pretty impressive.

All those gears and blades? Gave me the heebie-jeebies. But in a good, spooky way.

It was like a giant, industrial nightmare. Perfectly suited for the Baudelaire's lives, really.

Overall: Not the Worst Episode (But Definitely Not the Best)

Look, The Miserable Mill: Part One wasn't a total disaster. It had its moments.

But compared to some of the other episodes? It felt a little...muddled.

Still, gotta give props to the show for consistently delivering that unfortunate charm. Even when the plot gets a little saw-ry.
