A Place Further Than The Universe Songs

Okay, let's be real for a sec. A Place Further Than The Universe is amazing. We all cried. We all wanted to go to Antarctica. But… the songs?
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Brace yourselves. I’m about to say something controversial. Are the songs in Yorimoi (that's what cool kids call it, right?) that great?
Don't get me wrong! They're fine. Pleasant. Perfectly serviceable for setting the mood while Mari freaks out about high school or Shirase stares intensely at her laptop. But… are they playlist-worthy outside the anime?
Must Read
Opening Theme Musings
Let's talk about "The Girls Are Alright!" It's catchy. Super upbeat. Makes you wanna grab your besties and book a one-way ticket to adventure!
But then you actually listen to it… and it’s kind of… generic? Like, I feel like I've heard this song in a car commercial. And maybe at a dentist's office. I can't be the only one!
It does its job! But is it stuck in my head three years later? Not so much.

Ending Theme Reflections
"Koko kara, Koko kara" is the first ending theme. It's sweet. It’s about friendship. It's about the bond between Kimari, Hinata, Yuzuki, and Shirase.
And...it kinda just fades into the background for me. It's nice elevator music.
The second ending theme is "One Million Miles." Melancholy goodness! But a slow song about friendship isn't always what I need to brighten my day.

The OST... Where Art Thou?
Now, the actual OST… I’m struggling to even remember any specific tracks besides the iconic "Antarctica" piece which everyone loves!
It's great, it gives you that "vast, empty, and cold" feeling. The music is fine, even good, for the atmosphere it creates. But not so great when I'm doing my grocery shopping. Imagine the tension!
Maybe the problem is me. Maybe I have awful taste. But I think the music just isn't as memorable as the story.

Compared to Other Anime...
Think about anime like Your Lie in April. Now that’s an OST. We’re talking classical masterpieces that make you sob even if you haven’t seen the show.
Or consider Cowboy Bebop. Jazz. Coolness. Legendary. The songs are unforgettable. They give the show its identity.
Yorimoi... has… well… serviceable songs that do the job. They're the background singers. Not the lead vocalist, definitely.

In Conclusion (Maybe)
Listen, I still love A Place Further Than The Universe. It's a masterpiece of storytelling. I adore the characters.
But the songs? They’re just… there. Perfectly adequate. But not exactly setting my Spotify on fire.
Okay, internet. Unleash the fury! Tell me why I’m wrong. Or, admit it. Maybe you kinda agree with me? Shhh… it’ll be our little secret. 🤫
I will continue loving Shirase and the girls no matter what the songs are!
