A Discovery Of Witches Season 3 Episode 3

Okay, let's talk about A Discovery of Witches, Season 3, Episode 3. Did anyone else feel...underwhelmed? Maybe it's just me. But hold on, before you grab your pitchforks, hear me out!
Timey-Wimey What-Now?
First off, the whole time travel thing is still a bit fuzzy. I get it, they needed to go back to find the missing pages. But did it have to be so complicated? It felt like a history lesson mashed up with a fantasy novel, and not in a good way.
And while we're on the topic of history, let's talk about Matthew. He's usually so brooding and mysterious. But in this episode, he felt a little...boring? Don't get me wrong, Matthew Goode is always charming. Still, something felt off.

Diana's Powers: Overhyped or Underutilized?
Diana is supposed to be this super powerful witch, right? The one everyone's afraid of. But sometimes, I feel like she's just...there. She does some cool spells, sure. But I’m not entirely convinced she's the ultimate weapon against Gerbert and his cronies.
Maybe it's just me, but I wanted more oomph! More dramatic showdowns. More explosions of magical energy! Instead, we got a lot of walking around and talking. Which, you know, is fine. But not exactly edge-of-your-seat stuff.

And speaking of Gerbert... Where's the menace? The pure, unadulterated evil? He felt more like a grumpy old man complaining about the weather. Come on, A Discovery of Witches, you can do better!
Marcus: The Real MVP?
If there’s anyone consistently stealing the show this season, it’s Marcus. He's funny, loyal, and actually seems to be having a good time. He's basically the only one bringing any levity to the seriously heavy subject matter.

Honestly, I’d watch a spin-off series entirely focused on Marcus. Forget the missing pages and the impending doom. Just give me Marcus and his vampire shenanigans. I'd binge that so hard!
And can we talk about Gallowglass? He's always been the strong, silent type. But I feel like they’ve really sidelined him this season. Is he just there to look good and occasionally grunt reassuringly at Diana? I hope not!

Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Okay, here's where I might lose some of you. I think the romance is starting to feel a little...stale. Diana and Matthew are supposed to be this epic love story for the ages. But it’s lacking some kind of spark. Where's the angst? The passionate declarations of undying love?
They're always so serious! Maybe a little less world-saving and a little more… well, you know. Passion!
Maybe I'm just being overly critical. I love A Discovery of Witches. I really do. But this episode just didn't quite hit the mark for me. It felt like a bit of a filler episode. Something to bridge the gap between the exciting bits. I am hoping the coming episodes deliver more punch, more drama, and maybe even a little more fun. After all, who doesn't love a good witchy adventure?
