A Discovery Of Witches Season 1 Episode 2

Let's Talk A Discovery of Witches: Episode 2 - Unpopular Opinions Welcome!
Okay, fellow witchy-vampire enthusiasts, can we all agree that A Discovery of Witches is... something? Specifically, episode 2? Buckle up, because I have some thoughts. And some might be controversial.
Firstly, Matthew Clairmont (aka Matthew Goode) continues to brood magnificently. But does anyone else think he's maybe slightly too intense? Like, dude, Diana just wants to check out some books!
Speaking of Diana Bishop, I'm still on the fence about her clumsiness. Powerful witch who can barely navigate a library? It feels a bit forced, doesn't it? I want her to command her powers, not stumble over ancient tomes!
Must Read
The Bodleian Library: More Than Just Books
Let's be real, the Bodleian Library is basically a character in itself. It's beautiful, ancient, and probably houses more secrets than my grandmother's attic. I wouldn't mind spending a few days locked in there.
But seriously, that chase scene? Dramatic! And Matthew's possessiveness skyrockets. He's like a sparkly vampire bodyguard. A very, very intense one.

I kind of love the tension between Diana and Matthew, though. It's all stolen glances and suppressed desires. You can practically cut it with a silver knife. Or maybe a really, really sharp book.
The Creature Family Feud: A Bit Over the Top?
Now, let's talk about the Congregation. It's basically a supernatural United Nations. Except, you know, with more simmering resentment and interspecies squabbles.
Does anyone else find the vampire-witch-demon drama a tad melodramatic sometimes? The "we can't be friends" trope is getting a little old. Can't we all just get along?

Satu Järvinen, the Finnish witch, is giving me serious side-eye vibes. She seems like the type to stir up trouble just for fun. And, let's be honest, she's dressed to impress. Leather is always a good choice.
I am also going to say it...the pacing in this episode felt a little slow. Especially compared to the book. I needed more spellcasting and less brooding stares.
My Unpopular Opinion: Matthew Needs a Chill Pill
Okay, here's the unpopular opinion: Matthew needs to relax. A lot. I get it, you're a powerful vampire. But stalking a witch 24/7 is not the way to win her heart, buddy.

He’s got to dial it down a notch or two. Maybe take a yoga class. Or, you know, learn to knit. Something calming.
And the "no witches and vampires together" rule? Seriously? Talk about a cliché. It's like a supernatural Romeo and Juliet. I bet that book, Ashmole 782, will reveal all of this is a giant conspiracy.
Don't get me wrong, I am still enjoying the show. I love the world-building, the costumes, and the sheer fantastical-ness of it all. But it has some flaws.

Final Thoughts: Still Hooked
Even with its quirks, I am totally hooked. I need to know what's in that darn book! And if Diana and Matthew will ever just kiss already!
So, what are your thoughts on episode 2? Am I completely off base? Or do you agree with my slightly controversial opinions? Let me know in the comments!
I am ready for Episode 3. Hopefully we get more magic and less glaring!
