A Different World Season 3 Episode 20

A Different World Season 3 Episode 20

Okay, let's talk about A Different World. Specifically, Season 3, Episode 20: "Forever Hold Your Piece."

Was Dwayne Really That Great?

Everyone swoons over Dwayne Wayne. He's the lovable goofball who eventually matures into a responsible architect. But let’s be honest, sometimes he was a little… much.

In this episode, Whitley's got a new man, Julian. And Dwayne, despite supposedly being over her, acts like a toddler whose favorite toy was taken away.

I always felt like Dwayne was a tiny bit… entitled? Anyone else agree?

Whitley's Wardrobe: Always on Point

Can we just pause and appreciate Whitley Gilbert's fashion sense? Seriously, her outfits were legendary.

Even in this episode, while dealing with Dwayne's drama, she looked impeccable. Hats off to the costume designers!

She could pull off shoulder pads like no other. A true style icon.

Ron and Tiffani: Underrated Gems

Let's not forget about Ron Johnson and Tiffani Hunter! Their relationship was always so grounded and hilarious.

While Whitley and Dwayne were busy with their will-they-won't-they dance, Ron and Tiffani provided much-needed comic relief. They brought the funny!

Their arguments were relatable. And their reconciliations were sweet. More Ron and Tiffani, please!

Julian: A Decent Guy?

So, Whitley's new beau, Julian. He seemed like a nice enough guy, right?

Sure, he wasn't Dwayne, but he was intelligent, sophisticated, and treated Whitley well. What's not to like?

Maybe Whitley deserved a break from Dwayne's… antics.

The Importance of HBCUs

Of course, what makes A Different World so special is its depiction of life at a Historically Black College and University. We got to witness some of the HBCU magic!

This episode, like many others, highlighted the importance of community, education, and Black excellence. It’s important to remember that aspect of the show.

Hillman was more than just a setting. It was a character in itself.

Unpopular Opinion: Whitley and Julian Had Potential

Okay, here's my controversial take. I think Whitley and Julian could have been a good match. Hear me out!

They were both intelligent and ambitious. Plus, they shared similar values. Maybe, just maybe, they could have made it work.

Dwayne just showed up and ruined it for everyone involved. Don't @ me!

Denise Who?

By this point, Denise Huxtable was long gone from Hillman. It's easy to forget she was ever even there!

The show really found its footing after she left. The focus shifted to the core group of characters we all know and love. And, of course, the show flourished!

No shade to Lisa Bonet, but it’s true.

Final Thoughts

Season 3, Episode 20 of A Different World is a classic. It's full of drama, humor, and fashion inspiration.

And it raises some important questions. Was Dwayne really the best choice for Whitley? Were Ron and Tiffani the most relatable couple? These questions never get old!

This show remains timeless, more than 30 years later. Thanks for the laughs, Hillman!
