3rd Rock From The Sun Season 2 Episode 1

Back to School, Alien Style: My Thoughts on 3rd Rock S2 Ep1
Okay, let's talk about "See Dick Continue to Run." That's 3rd Rock From the Sun Season 2, Episode 1 for those of you playing at home.
It's all about going back to school. Even aliens have to deal with registration lines and awkward first days, right?
Dick's Dilemma: Teacher Troubles
Poor Dick Solomon is in a real pickle. He's supposed to be head of the physics department. But he's also crushing hard on Dr. Albright.
Must Read
Talk about a professional conflict of interest! We've all been there, haven't we? Maybe not with aliens, but with crushes at work.
He tries to play it cool. Fails miserably, of course. That's Dick in a nutshell.
Sally's Social Struggles
Sally is having her own drama. She's trying to be cool. She wants to be popular. Sound familiar, anyone?
She wants to hang out with chicks! This is her ultimate goal in the season two premier.

Let's be honest, navigating high school (or its equivalent) is tough, even if you're from another planet. She needs to figure out the cool women social hierarchy.
Harry's Hidden Talents?
Ah, Harry. He's always a wildcard. In this episode, he is getting a job at the hotel!
He provides some random, comedic relief. This time he is working as a bell hop or something.
His antics are weird, but you gotta love him.

Tommy's Teen Angst
Tommy is dealing with the joys of puberty. Or, well, the alien version of it. His head hurts because he's developing a new organ!
He's growing up. He is more annoying, probably.
But, as expected, Tommy is growing into a fine young man.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Okay, here's where I might lose some of you. I think this episode is... underrated.

Hear me out! It perfectly sets the stage for the season. Everyone's dealing with relatable issues. It is just wrapped in the usual 3rd Rock zaniness.
The humor is sharp, the characters are well-defined, and the plot moves along nicely. I like it.
Plus, the dynamic between Dick and Mary is gold. Their awkward interactions are comedy genius.
John Lithgow's performance is, as always, top-notch. His physical comedy is just incredible.

I find it hilarious how he is confused by the smallest of things. I love it!
Sure, it's not the flashiest episode. It is not the most memorable. But it's solid. It's funny. It's 3rd Rock From the Sun doing what it does best.
So, next time you're looking for a good laugh, give "See Dick Continue to Run" another watch. You might just find yourself agreeing with me.
Or not. That's okay too. We can still be friends. But, seriously, give it another shot.
