20 20 My Son Is Not A Monster Full Episode

Okay, people, let’s talk 20/20. Specifically, that one episode: “My Son Is Not A Monster.” We’ve all seen it, right? Or at least heard whispers around the water cooler.
And let me just say… I have some thoughts. Possibly unpopular thoughts.
He’s Not Always a Monster... Right?
Look, I’m not saying he's a perfect angel. Nobody is! We all have our moments. Some are just... more televised than others, let's be honest.
Must Read
But "monster"? Ouch. That's a harsh label.
The Mom Factor
I gotta hand it to the mom. She's sticking by her kid. That’s what moms do, right? Even when he might... uh...have done some questionable things.
I mean, who hasn't defended their kid, even when deep down, you're thinking, "Oh honey, what were you thinking?"
It’s like when my kid drew on the walls with permanent marker. I blamed the dog. Good times. Good times. It's a mom's job to always have her son's back, even when the evidence points to her son's guilt.

The "Evidence"
Let's dissect this "evidence" for a hot second. Sure, it might look bad. Really bad. But is it monster bad?
Maybe it's all just a big misunderstanding. A series of unfortunate events. A really, really, really unfortunate set of choices.
Or maybe I'm just incredibly naive. Who knows?
He Seemed Nice... On TV.
Hear me out: on the show, he seemed… almost normal? I mean, okay, maybe a bit shifty-eyed. But who isn't when being interrogated on national television?

I bet I'd look shifty-eyed too. Especially if cameras were pointed at me and someone kept asking me if I was a monster.
Talk about pressure! No wonder he seemed uncomfortable. You could feel the tension emanating from your television screen.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Okay, deep breath. Here comes my unpopular opinion: I don't think he's a monster. Not a full-blown, fire-breathing, under-the-bed monster, anyway.
Maybe he made some terrible decisions. Maybe he deserves some serious consequences. But monster? I'm not sold.

Perhaps he's just a really, really troubled individual who needs help. Therapy, maybe? A good talking-to? A time-out in the corner? (Okay, maybe not the last one.)
Let’s Be Real
The media loves a good monster narrative. It sells. It gets ratings. It keeps us glued to our screens.
But sometimes, I think we're too quick to label people. Too quick to judge. Too quick to jump to conclusions.
And maybe, just maybe, the truth is more complicated than a simple "monster" or "not a monster" dichotomy. I find myself constantly asking, "Was this son really a monster?"

Just a Thought
So, there you have it. My probably controversial, possibly delusional, take on that 20/20 episode. Maybe the son is a monster.
Or maybe, he's just a human being who messed up big time.
Either way, it definitely gave us something to talk about, right? And kept us from thinking about our own problems, even for a little while.
Let's be honest, the whole 20/20 episode was definitely gripping television! Even if I disagree with the "monster" label.
Thanks 20/20 for another entertaining and thought-provoking episode that leads us to ask, "Is my son a monster?"
