Okay, Let's Be Real About 10 Things I Hate About You
We all love this movie. Heath Ledger singing "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" is iconic. But, let's admit it, some things haven't aged perfectly. Let's air some potentially unpopular opinions.
1. Kat's Cynicism? A Little Much.
Okay, I get it. High school sucks. But did she really have to be that cynical? Sometimes, it felt forced.
2. Patrick's "Bad Boy" Act Felt...Dated.
The whole mysterious, brooding guy routine? Been there, seen that. It felt very 90s. Nowadays, that kind of persona might raise a few red flags.
Must Read
3. Walter Stratford's Overprotectiveness.
I get wanting to protect your daughters. But locking them down completely? That's a bit extreme, Dad.
4. Joey Donner's Hair.
Seriously, what was up with that hair? It looked sculpted. In a very, very questionable way.

5. Bianca's Shallowness at the Beginning.
I know character development exists. But, initially, she's all about popularity. It's a bit cringe-worthy to watch now.
6. The Bet Itself.
Paying someone to date someone else? Shady! It's ethically questionable. Plus, it sets up the whole movie on a somewhat dishonest foundation.
7. Cameron's Inability to Speak to Bianca.
Poor Cameron! So awkward and shy. It was painful to watch him stumble over his words. Couldn't he have practiced in the mirror or something?

8. The Padua High School Setting.
High school movies are always heightened versions of reality. But Padua felt like another planet. Were all high schools in the 90s like that?
9. The Slapstick Comedy.
Some of the physical comedy felt a little... cartoonish. Like when Patrick is dodging paintballs. It was over the top.

10. The "I Hate You" Poem Scene.
Okay, I know it's supposed to be emotional. But her dramatically running off stage always seemed a little silly to me. Even if it is Julia Stiles!
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy 10 Things I Hate About You. It's a classic for a reason! But, sometimes, it's fun to poke a little fun at things we love.
So, tell me, what are your unpopular opinions about this movie?
