07 Ghost Season 1 Episode 2 English Dub

Okay, let's talk about 07 Ghost. Specifically, Episode 2 of Season 1. And even more specifically, the English dub.
Hear me out, folks. I know dubs get a bad rap sometimes. But I'm here to defend this one. Maybe.
The Dub: My Confession
I'm going to say it. I... I kind of liked it. There, I said it! Don't @ me.
Must Read
I know, I know. Subtitles are usually the "superior" way to watch anime. Something about preserving the original artistic intent, blah blah blah.
But sometimes, after a long day, my brain just wants to relax. It doesn't want to work overtime deciphering kanji. Just let me hear some English!
Let's Be Honest, Some Voices Just Work
Some of the voice actors just nailed it. Especially the ones doing the voices for Mikage and Frau.
Mikage's loyalty is palpable! It’s just so well done. You can feel his dedication oozing out of the speakers.

And Frau? Come on, that snarky, sarcastic tone? Perfection. Absolute perfection.
Sure, maybe a few line readings were a little...stiff. But overall, it was enjoyable. Remember it is my opinion only.
Rappo's...Unique Delivery
Okay, let's address the elephant in the room. Or rather, the tiny, floating creature in the anime: Rappo.
Rappo's voice in the dub is... definitely a choice. It's…high-pitched. And energetic. Very, very energetic.

Some might say it's grating. I... wouldn't disagree completely. But honestly, it kind of added to his weird charm. Don't judge me!
The Dub vs. The Sub: It's All About Preference
Ultimately, it boils down to personal preference, right? Do you want the "authentic" experience with subtitles?
Or do you want to kick back, relax, and let someone else read the words for you? I get it, it is a choice.
For me, sometimes that second option is exactly what I need. Especially when I am rewatching something.
I've seen 07 Ghost multiple times. The first few were subbed. But after that? Dub all the way.

Episode 2: A Quick Recap (Spoiler Alert!)
Episode 2 sees Teito struggling to adjust to his new life at the church. He is also grappling with his amnesia.
We get more glimpses of the shadowy figures pursuing him. And some development of his relationship with Mikage. Plus, Frau's general awesomeness.
It's a crucial episode for setting the stage for the rest of the series. And frankly, I enjoyed experiencing it in English.
So, Should You Watch the Dub?
If you're a purist, probably not. You'll probably hate me (and the dub).

But if you're open-minded, or just looking for a more casual viewing experience? Give it a shot.
You might be surprised. Or you might hate it. Either way, you can't say I didn't warn you! And please, be civil.
Just remember, it's okay to have unpopular opinions. Even about anime dubs.
And if you disagree with me, well, that's fine too. We can still be friends... probably.
Ultimately, just enjoy the show! Whether you're reading the subtitles or listening to the English voices, 07 Ghost is a fantastic series. Let's all agree with this.
